Vello LA-NEX-MD Overview

Make the most of your existing collection of Minolta MD-mount glass with this Vello Lens Adapter that will allow you to mount these lenses to a Sony E-mount camera. Precise construction makes it easy to attach these adapted lenses to your camera and keeps it secure during use. Infinity focus is guaranteed, ensuring that you get proper functionality our of all your optics. Additionally, the adapter is made from a durable zinc alloy and features a matte black finish on the inside to reduce the potential for glare and reflections that can negatively impact image quality.

Although the lens will fit physically, autofocus, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), and other functions dependent on communication between camera body and lens will be disrupted by the lens adapter. You will need to focus manually, and to set exposures manually or meter in aperture priority (stop-down) mode. Focusing to infinity is retained.

This adapter enables the use of Minolta MD lenses on Sony E-mount cameras, meaning you can now use your existing stable of lenses on your current camera. It is also very secure, holding the lens in place without any wobble sometimes associated with the adapting process.
Thanks to precise manufacturing, this adapter is guaranteed to provide infinity focus by placing the lens at the correct distance from the sensor. This allows you to make the most of your lenses and doesn't limit you from shooting distant subjects.
Made from a durable zinc alloy, this adapter will withstand many uses and won't wear or break in the way soft brass or cheap plastic would. Also, an internal matte black finish reduces reflections and glare, ensuring your images look sharp and contrasty.

I've had one of these adapter for a few years now purchased not long after buying my A6000. I have a collection of Minolta Rokkor MC & MD lenses that I wanted to use along with an original Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f3.5 macro zoom & a 400mm f6.3 Soligor Tele-photo both Minolta MC/MD mount. The lens with the poorest image quality is the Soligor so I want to include an image taken with this lens & the Vello adapter today November 16, 2021 The image is un-cropped but it has been resized from 6000x4000 to 2700x2160 & saved at 150dpi. The flowers were about 15 metres away (about 49 feet) and due to the aps crop factor the full frame equiv would be 600mm. There is an ant on one of the flowers & it's quite recognisable. Image details: Manual focus - 1/250 sec at f8.0 ISO-200 all manual settings & I used a monopod to help with camera shake as no in body stabilisation in my A6000 I am now thinking of buying another of these Vello adapters along with the version that has Macro capabilities. Highly Recommended - I bought & paid for this adapter with my own money & this review is not sponsored by any company or person

This adapter is well made and fits perfectly without being excessively tight or loose. Used it with 58mm f/1.2 MC and 50mm f/1.2 MD lens on a Sony A7Rii. It worked great and I was able to nail focus wide open more consistently than with my old Minolta bodies.

It works

Gave it a middle rating. No serious shortcomings, but no excellent touches as it lacks a chromed brass rear flange and a top quality latch. The latch allows minor rotational play, but is secure enuf to NOT unlatch and lose the lens.

Okay for normal use

This adapter works well under normal photo conditions, but has a very slight light leak on the right side that is visible when using a dark red R72 filter or ND 3 filter. It's not usable under those conditions. I have had two of these with the identical leak, so I am not apt to think it's a rare occurrence.

This review is for the Minolta MD to Sony E adapter. The Minolta mount underwent a few changes over the years. The SR, MC and MD. Im not super familiar with the differences, but I have two MC lenses (they say MC on the lens). The Rokkor 85mm f/1.7 has a circular aperture lever - the lever inside the lens that lets the camera change the aperture. This adapter works beautifully with that lens. The connection is solid and it just works. The Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 (2nd generation with the scalloped focusing ring) - it got stuck on the lens. A bit of googling revealed that other people have had this problem as well. Pressing the release button moves the cam arm, allowing the lens to rotate - but it only rotates about halfway and then it gets stuck - a very solid stop. It took me the better part of a day (not just doing this, but coming back to it from time to time) freaking out that Id just ruined my mint condition vintage lens. Finally I figured out what the problem is. Inside the Vello adapter is a little metal tab. I think its purpose is to make sure theres a tight fit. Rather than make the adapter to tight tolerances, they use these little metal springs to create a tight fit - hey for $20 what are you expecting, Leica quality? Im perfectly OK with this in general. There are three metal springs around the diaphram to hold it tight to the lens, you can see them pop up as you rotate the lens to un-mount it. Theres a third metal spring - it looks like a little metal tab that hits the lens. Once you know this, its easy to remove the lens - just press on the tab. Itll be right near the aperture lever. Im going into this much detail in hopes that itll help someone else who encounters this may find this and be able to fix it (and maybe the manufacturer will correct this problem).

Bought this to mount some 40+ year old Minolta lenses to my Sony a6000. The mount is easy to use and feels very solidly made. Pictures have been coming out great.

I received this item quickly and tried it right away. At first the alignment to get it connected to the E-Mount was tricky but after looking it over carefully it has become much easier. The quality of the adapter surprised me for the price, it is well made and works very well adapting my vintage Minolta lenses to my Sony A6000 . I would have been nice if there were covers for the adapter when not in use but not a show stopper. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to adapt there lenses to an E-Mount camera

does this adapter work for Minolta MC or SR mount ...

does this adapter work for Minolta MC or SR mount also?
Asked by: harley
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minolta_SR-mount The Minolta SR-mount was the bayonet mounting system used in all 35 mm SLR cameras made by Minolta with interchangeable manual focusing lenses. Several iterations of the mounting were produced over the decades, and as a result, the mount itself was sometimes referred to by the name of the corresponding lens generation (f.e. "MC", "MD" or "X-600") instead. All lenses for these mounts are interchangeable between older and newer Minolta manual focus 35 mm film SLR bodies. There are exceptions, such as, the lenses before 1961 feature a slightly different aperture leverage, and thus the automatic diaphragm may not work correctly on post-1961 cameras, and later MC/MD tabs may hit a screw of the front cover on earlier cameras. Four design enhancements, all forwardly inclusive and backwardly compatible, are: SR - 1958-1966: Plain SR-bayonet featuring automatic diaphragm. Lenses are labelled Rokkor (pre-set) or Auto Rokkor (automatic diaphragm) MC - 1966-1977: Meter coupling added (often called MC mount) allowing full-aperture TTL measurement. Lenses are labelled MC Rokkor. MD - 1977-2001: MD lever added, which allows the reading of the smallest available aperture, often referred to as MD mount. Lenses are labelled MD Rokkor or MD. MD X-600 - 1983-1998: X-600 mount extension reporting the maximum aperture of the lens to the camera body, which then engaged different auto focus confirmation sensors in the camera body.
