Vello LA-CEF-NG Overview

Make the most of your existing collection of Nikon F-mount glass with this Vello Lens Adapter with Aperture Control that will allow you to mount these lenses to a Canon EF/EF-S-mount camera. Precise construction makes it easy to attach these adapted lenses to your camera and keeps it secure during use. Infinity focus is guaranteed, ensuring that you get proper functionality our of all your optics. This model features a built-in aperture control ring that will allow you to control the aperture of the lens for adjusting exposure and depth of field. Additionally, the adapter is made from a durable zinc alloy and features a matte black finish on the inside to reduce the potential for glare and reflections that can negatively impact image quality.

Although the lens will fit physically, autofocus, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), and other functions dependent on communication between camera body and lens will be disrupted by the lens adapter. You will need to focus manually, and to set exposures manually or meter in aperture priority (stop-down) mode. Focusing to infinity is retained.

This adapter enables the use of Nikon F lenses on Canon EF/EF-S-mount cameras, meaning you can now use your existing stable of lenses on your current camera. It is also very secure, holding the lens in place without any wobble sometimes associated with the adapting process.
Made specifically for Nikon F-mount G-type lenses, this adapter features an integrated aperture control ring, ensuring you don't lose control over the lens' operation even when using it on a non-native camera system.
Thanks to precise manufacturing, this adapter is guaranteed to provide infinity focus by placing the lens at the correct distance from the sensor. This allows you to make the most of your lenses and doesn't limit you from shooting distant subjects.
Made from a durable zinc alloy, this adapter will withstand many uses and won't wear or break in the way soft brass or cheap plastic would. Also, an internal matte black finish reduces reflections and glare, ensuring your images look sharp and contrasty.

Works as expected.

aperture control ring is a little stiff when everything is mounted up. You'll need this if you are mounting up Nikon G lenses or any modern F mount lens without an aperture ring. Fits tight on the lens and is snug on the camera side.

It works -- but it's like a relationship: it's complicated

The Vello Nikon / Canon ring works as stated. You get full aperture control, etc. But the box includes no instructions and it takes a lot of fiddling to figure out how to get the ring to mount and actuate properly. For occasional use it's fun, but I wouldn't use it in critical shooting situations.

great product.

I have shot video on Nikon D500s & D750 for a few years now, so I have several Nikor lenses, like the 2.8 24-70mm & 2.8 70-200mm ones, which don’t gave an aperture ring. I recently bought two Panasonic EVA1 cams, which have Canon EF mounts, and I bought a few cinema primes. However, I recently did a shoot where having the option to quickly zoom was important. So, I took a chance on these adaptors. Mounting them on the Nikon lenses was a bit tricky at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was way easier. Super tight fit with no play. Mounting to the EF Canon mount on the cam was really easy, but there is a tiny bit of play. Not as tight, but I saw zero focus issues at all, and after three days of shooting, I had no issues! The aperture ring works perfectly! I bought two, now I’m gonna buy about 4 more to rig all of my Nikon lenses on EVA1 shoot days!

Cannot get it off the lens

No manual or instructions. Put it on my Nikon lens, and now I cannot get it off. Nothing works. Very disappointed. I have used adapters in the past and have never had this problem.

Broken on set during the second use.

Very unreliable piece of gear. My lens sigma 18-35mm almost fell to the floor when the adapter came loose from the camera. Mind you, I wasn't even swapping lenses at the time, just an interview on a tripod. I'd used the adapter for a full day shoot the week previously where I was shooting lots of handheld and moving quickly. That gave me a sense of confidence that it turned out was misguided. The adapter just came loose from two of the three (I think) mounting points. Screws and spring fell to the floor and my lens dangled off the mount while the client was in front of camera. The worst experience I've had with an adapter yet.
