Peak Design L-BL-3 overview

  • 1Description

This charcoal-colored Leash from Peak Design is a camera strap designed to provide photographers with the ability to quickly and easily detach a connected camera from it for such purposes as moving only the camera to a tripod, or connecting another camera to the strap. This is made possible due to the included Peak Design Anchor Links. Each Anchor Link creates a durable, snap-in or snap-out connection point to a strap eyelet on a wide variety of cameras.

Constructed for comfort and usable as neck or shoulder strap, the Leash features twist-resistant nylon webbing. Additionally, it can be worn as a cross-body strap across a right or left-handed user's body, draped from one shoulder to the opposing hip. When used along with an Anchor Link, the included Peak Design Anchor Mount can create a connection point using a camera's 1/4"-20 bottom accessory thread. By attaching the Leash along a bottom accessory thread and one strap eyelet instead of two, a camera can be made to consistently face forward while against the hip, reducing the time needed by the user to raise it to their eye and capture an image.

The length of this strap ranges from 32.6 to 57.1" and is 0.8" wide. Integrated, adjustment loops allow the length of the Leash to be quickly changed while in use.

    Peak Design L-BL-3 reviews

Leash Camera Strap (Charcoal) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Right width, Right length, Great Strap. Previously I used Leica M series straps on all my cameras. Most of those were Leica M's. When I switched to a mirrorless system, Fuji X-E2, I continued to use the Leica straps. When I bought a Fuji X-T2 with battery grip the Leica straps seemed a bit narrow for the weight of that camera. The Peak Design Leash strap is slightly wider making it easier to carry the camera for longer periods of time. I also like the camera anchors/cords and how easy it is to take the strap off the anchors when I use the camera on a tripod.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Uncomfortable For Me After the quick disconnect system on the strap I was using with my Fuji X-E2, I decided to switch to Peak Design with my new Fuji X-T2. After checking on Peak Design's web site, I decided on the Ash Leash because the materiel and build quality looked better than their other straps. On the plus side, it is well packaged, well designed, easily transferable between cameras, and easily adjustable. But I have two issues that make the leash a bad choice for me. First, I am 6 feet tall and with a winter coat on, the leash is too short to use as a cross body strap, which is one way I wear my cameras. Second, the strap material is uncomfortable and digs into my neck when worn as a cross body or a neck strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love it Peak Design: Simply the best. Plenty of compliments have already been written by others but I feel that another might help other enthusiasts to make their decision. This is so good I now have all Peaks straps. Durable, simple, easy to use and ultra-useful. Easily removed and rolled up, this allows for the sheer enjoyment of an unencumbered camera in the hand when that's possible. Brilliant system that has added a great deal to the physical feel, enjoyment and security of my photography Business.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Extremely narrow strap - not comfortable First, i'll say that this is a beautifully made (and packaged) product. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into it. Unfortunately it's just too narrow to be comfortable, even with a small mirrorless camera. My Sony a6300 and 35mm prime lens qualify as a small mirrorless setup, and even the weight of that makes the strap dig in to my shoulder enough that i'm constantly aware of it. It's similar to (and looks like) a typical purse strap. It might be suitable for a small point and shoot camera, but I doubt many point and shoot camera users buy fancy third party straps... so i'm not sure who this product is for. I wish I'd purchased the Slide Lite instead, or something with at least a 50% wider strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a Well-Designed Strap I bought this to replace a broken Leica strap. What's good about this strap: 1. It's sturdy. 2. The clip-on buttons work great. You can quickly switch between a full strap and an optional wrist strap. 3. Lots of adjustment from short to long strap. 4. The metal part that screws onto the bottom of the camera allows the camera to hang naturally at your waist. 5. The strap slides easily from carry position to shooting position. I've used lots of straps. This one is by far the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Camera Strap! The original leash that was sold by Peak Design wasn't that good in my opinion, so when this version came out, I had to try it out. This version has the better anchors and a better strap! It's hard to describe it but the quality of the strap and the anchors is something you need to see for yourself. Come down to B&H and check it out! That's what I did! ;)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Peak Designs Has It Down except... Love the Peak design concept. Easy to keep switching straps between cameras. Everything is well built. my only problem is not being able to use my tripod without taking off the plate that permits using their hand strap and their sling strap configuration. My solution is to use their strap and a different hand strap that lets me use my tripod plates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient and easy to use Most camera straps aren't very hard to use, however the Peak Design one is amazing. I don't always want the camera strap on, however I also don't want to deal with the hassle of having to always take off other straps. The quick clip on this makes it so that I can easily take the strap off when I don't need it.
