SmallRig 2059 Reviews
You need this
This comes in handy. It's good to have them in your bag. Maybe for an extra pocket light, or just mount an extra mic. Good product, especially with this price tag.
Inexpensive functional small ball head
Small unit perfect for attaching lighting or small monitor to camera or cage
It works for light weight light panels.
The hand tightener tightens the cold shoe screw as well as the ball. This makes it difficult to keep the cold shoe tight. I use a different cold shoe adapter that tightens independent of the the hand wing nut.
Well built and functional
Indispensable for my productions. Well built and functional. The packaging is very well built too.
Good Value for a Pair
I added this pair to complement my purchase of two Lume Cube Panel Pros. The DSLR camera mounts that come with the Lume Cubes are rigid and more suitable on light stands. I added this matching pair of hot shoe (actually cold shoe) ball heads for greater adjustability. Allen wrenches and screws are included but without instructions. Nevertheless, B&H's product listing provides a thorough enough description. They're suitable for their intended purpose and at this price point, they're a good deal. Note that per SmallRig's website, these are not compatible with Sony cameras.
Poor Design, Won't Risk My Gear with These
I've been shooting professionally for close to 40 years. I ordered these site unseen based on the reviews. That was a mistake. These are not designed well. It is not possible to tighten the top threads to your auxiliary device using just the black ribbed plate. You have to tighten the ball head to the mount, then rotate the entire mount to seat your auxiliary device. Moreover, the ribbed plate on the bottom is too small to tighten the mount to the camera easily. Overall, just a poor design that takes more thought than it should to utilize efficiently. I'll be looking for other options.
Very nice
I'm very well-built and smooth operating. As mentioned by others, it is surprisingly heavy for its size. An excellent investment.
VERY NICE BUT...
Good quality little unit but they are surprisingly heavy. Otherwise, an excellent product.
