What is the thickness of the filter?

While Nikon does not publish the thickness of this filter, the ring is thinner to prevent vignetting, particularly on wide angle lenses.

The Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (112mm) would work with the 112mm filter connection of this lens. If you were looking for a clear filter though here is a good quality option. Clear - https://bhpho.to/3yyBCeK

Is this good for birds (Hawks with a lot of contrast) in flight on an extremely bright sunny blue sky day?
Asked by: Melanie
The Nikon Circular Polarizer Filter II is mainly for landscapes, reducing reflections from water or glass, enhancing fall foliage or increasing contrast in the sky. While it can reduce the glare off of bird feathers, a polarizer filter has about 1-2 stop loss of light depending on the amount of polarization being used. This would affect your shutter speed so it would not be good to use a polarizer for wildlife or bird photography.
