Genelec 8030C Overview

Styled in a raw finish, Genelec 8030C is a single 2-way active studio monitor designed to provide accurate mix referencing for audio engineers, musicians, and producers in project studios, small control rooms, or mobile setups. It features 100W of Class-D amplification driving a 5 1/8” woofer and 3/4” metal-dome tweeter, producing a frequency response of 47 Hz to 25 kHz.

A proprietary waveguide enhances imaging while the bass reflex port extends the low-frequency response. The aluminum enclosure is shaped to minimize diffraction. It supports a balanced input via an XLR 3-pin connector. Room compensation options include high- and low-frequency adjustments. There is a selectable power-saving mode that enables automatic power up/down via a signal-sensing circuit.

The 8030C offers multiple mounting options including threaded holes for compatibility with mic stands, OmniMount brackets.

The 8030 C comes with an Iso-Pod isolation stand.

  • 5 1/8" woofer and 3/4" metal-dome tweeter
  • 100W Class-D amplification
  • 47 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response (-6 dB), 54 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response (± 2 dB)
  • Proprietary waveguide utilizes DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) technology for improved imaging and a wider listening area
  • Bass reflex port provides extended low-frequency response
  • Room compensation controls include high- and low-frequency adjustments
  • Low-diffraction aluminum enclosure utilizes MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) technology
  • Balanced XLR 3-pin input and input level control
  • ISS (Intelligent Signal Sensing) automatic power-saving mode
  • Multiple mounting options: Iso-Pod and threaded holes that are compatible with mic stands and OmniMount brackets
  • Includes Iso-Pod isolation stand for vibration decoupling

What is the differnce between the 8030C and the G Three?
Asked by: Timothy
Internally, the Genelec 8030C 5" 2-Way 100W Active Studio Monitor (Single, Raw) and the Genelec G Three are identical. The two models differ in their input connector types and rear controls: - 8030C only has an XLR input, while the G Three has RCA and XLR inputs - 8030C uses a trim pot to adjust volume, while the G Three only uses dip switches - Bass and treble EQ controls vary slightly between the two - G Three has a dip switch to turn off the LED light on the front, while the 8030C does not

Volume ntrol? Seems there is no knob on speaker..... how can you control volume? If I need external control, who makes the best?
Asked by: James
The 8030C is designed without a volume control so that the audio signal volume is controlled from the source. There is an input sensitivity adjustment control on the rear of the monitor which can be used to match the output from the source.

Which Genelec model is suitable for studios of size 50X23X13(Ft)?
Asked by: Haein
That would really depend on your listening area. 8030's with a sub work work for one to two people in the listening area. 8050's would offer an 8'' woofer with better separation in the sonic field B&H # GE8050BPM. 1032c's would be great as well with a 10'' woofer and offer SAM technology BH #GE1032CPM.

What is the best way to attach this to my MBP? ...

What is the best way to attach this to my MBP? I'm doing video editing and I don't have any Mixers / USB audio interface stuff. I just have the 1/8 inch headphone jack....
Asked by: michael
You can use a cable to connect from the headphone jack in your Mac Book Pro to the back of this monitor. However your audio will sound nicer if you intergrade a audio interface to the setup. The cable you will need to connect two of the Genelecs to the computer is in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1102499-REG/hosa_technology_hmx_010y_1_8_stereo_mini_to.html
