question

Is this filter scratch resistant?
Asked by: Jumber K.
The filter is made of glass and hard coated. It is not scratch resistent. Keep in mind a glass screw-in filter protects your camera lens which would be expensive to replace if scratched or damaged. When not using your 67mm circular polarizing filter place it in the plastic case that came with the filter. When not using my polarizing filter, I replace with a 67mm neutral color or NC filter to protect my camera lens or you could use a UV filter. When not taking photos place the black lens cover over the filter covering your lens. Keep your filters and camera lenses clean and take care when cleaning. Gently blow any dirt or debris that may be on your filters before cleaning. With basic care, you should be fine.

question

When using this polarizing filter on my D7100 with 18-105 or my 70-200 lenses and with a UV filter you rotate it and then can see the affect in the viewfinder from light to near dark. What should it be rotated to ? ie what result is achieved? Also, with the lens hood on it is difficult to rotate the filter but I assume I am to rotate it for the desired affect to be achieved? Or does this camera automatically adjust for the filter?
Asked by: Anonymous
You rotate a circular polarizer to achieve a bluer sky or to cut glare from reflective surfaces. The camera will not automatically adjust for the filter, since this is a totally mechanical action. You should rotate the filter until the effect you are looking for has been achieved.
