Leica 14352 reviews

+1.5 M Diopter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Need to Compensate I bought the +1.5 diopter for my Leica M3 SS because when wearing glasses, I can't see the 50mm frame lines. My prescription strength is +1.75 (far-sighted) and the closest diopter values are either +1.5 or +2. I was concerned about magnification so I went with the former. After placing the order, I learned that the eye piece has a -0.5 correction. After cursing under my breath, I decided not to jump the gun and cancel the order and go for the +2.0 version. I held out. The day delivery was expected, I decided to unscrew the view piece to give it a good cleaning, inside and out with a fine cloth and some cleaning solution. Out of curiosity, while I had my glasses on and the eye piece off the camera, I looked through the finder and it was blurry. So, it appears the -0.5 correction is functionally necessary for 20/20 vision, thus nullifying it's effect on diopters. I received the new diopter and screwed it into the stock eyepiece. The frame lines, the patch and the outside world were TACK SHARP. So, to me, it appears the correction value on the diopter is actual and compensating for the stock view piece is totally unnecessary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leica is almost perfect. I bought two. The 1.5+ diopter fits my eye reading glasses which are 2.25 to 2.50 . It did take me some research to determine the correct number. I did not know whether I was a positive or negative in the diopter range available. The B and H reviews helped me the most when I read two reviews that discussed the same relationship concerning readers. I did not know the difference it would make in wearing glasses as an eye corrective prescription, or just needing readers . The diopter for the Leica M240 I just received is different from the diopter I use for the Nikon D4. The dipper is high quality, not plastic, and simply screws on right over the existing lens. It takes seconds to install. The M240 stays sealed, never removing the existing lens as I had to remove the Nikon D4 existing lens. How does it perform? The Leica diopter created a perfectly sharp clear view form the close up internal data on the range finder screen, to infinity in the scene before you. It works perfectly. The 2.0+ also worked, but it was a little to strong. I kept it any way just in case I need stronger glasses in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Older Eyes The diopter screws into the eyepiece of my M9, and is very thin. I selected the same strength as my long distance prescription. My eye can be much closer so I can see the 28 mm frame clearly. I don't see doubling in the rangefinder window, as I did with eyeglasses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what is needed Use mostly on my M8 but fits the M6 as well. Simple, nicely made, and does what it should. The only down side, which we have come to expect from Leica, is that it is a bit pricey, but the benefit is enormous for those who use corrective lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What The Doctor Ordered! I HATE wearing my glasses when I shoot. Using my latest prescription I was able to figure out that I needed the +1.5 diopter. B&H had them in stock and was delivered lickety split. I'm a happy shooter now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT IN ALL ASPECTS Product as advertised. Sent as agreed. Product fit on camera and worked perfectly. Just not with my contacts. Also before you buy you might want to check true values on camera diaopter built into Leica M9. Had this information been in the description somewhere could have saved myself a lot of time and trials.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what older eyes need I place the 1.25x magnifier on the range finder and found it still giving a full view with the bright lines of the 50 mm Sumilux and was still able to view the exposure controls. I added the 1.5 Leica M Diopter and am getting the razor sharp images the M9 P is capable of delivering.
