Cokin P Series Hard-Edge Graduated ND Filter (84 x 100mm, 2-Stop)
Key Features
  • 0.6 Graduated Optical Density
  • Optical Resin CR39 Filter
  • For Cokin P Series Holders
  • Reduce Exposure in Selective Areas
This Cokin P Series Hard-Edge Graduated ND Filter is designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. It helps to darken specific areas of an image, such as bright skies, while allowing for a normal, unaffected exposure in the other regions of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. A neutral density filter with a hard-edged line of transition is useful for images which include defined horizon lines. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and this filter provides up to a 2-stop reduction in light from entering a lens.

Cokin CP121M Reviews

Nice solution for a reasonable cost

I know the purists may differ, but in a Lightroom/Photoshop world, spending hundreds of dollars on individual filters often seems to be overkill. I wanted to have the option of controlling brightness via graduated NDs, but the cost of some of the classic brands was just too much. I had Cokin years ago, and I remember them as a good value. I foolishly threw them out in a fit of cleaning, so I bought a couple new ones w/ holder and two adapter rings. Now having used them with my mirrorless cameras, I am very pleased with the effect and feel that it was a very reasonable purchase. If I drop one and it scratches, it's not the end of the world. Given post-processing, one or two of these should provide about what I need. BTW, I am also a fan of a good polarizer for reducing reflections at the exposure - post processing can't do everything.

Great filter by Cokin!

Great and inexpensive filter for landscapes / sunsets where you need to reduce the harshness / brightness of the sky against the foreground. I use this for very bright landscapes in Yosemite.
