Behringer 1202 overview

  • 1Description

The Behringer XENYX 1202 is a mixer that offers clear and natural sound in a small and portable format. With twelve inputs, four high-quality XENYX mic preamps, and a 60mm logarithmic-taper master fader, this versatile mixer is ideal for a wide variety of mixing and recording applications, from small-stage gigs to home-studios, mid-size corporate events, and more.

The XENYX 1202 is quick to set up and operate with all connections and controls easily reachable on the top of the unit. The first four input channels feature XENYX mic preamps on four XLR connectors, as well as four 1/4" inputs for line-level signals. Switchable, onboard 48V phantom power allows you to plug in both dynamic and studio-grade condenser microphones. A gain knob lets you adjust the input level and a clip LED alerts you if you are overdriving the input. British-style 3-band EQs provide warm and musical tone corrections for your vocals and instruments.

The four sets of stereo inputs each feature +4/-10 switches used to match the mixer's input sensitivity with the incoming signal. This helps avoid signal degradation when connecting stereo keyboards or playback devices to the mixer. Pan (or balance) and level controls are included for all channels. Each channel is equipped with a post-fader FX send, which you can use to send signal to an external processor of your choice.

The 2-Track section provides an easy way to connect an external 2-track recorder and/or playback device. The 2-Track inputs are assignable to either the main mix or to the control room/phones outputs. The main mix fader controls the signal at both the main outs and 2-Track outputs, while a dedicated knob adjusts the volume for the phone/control room outputs.

    Behringer 1202 reviews

XENYX 1202 12-Channel Audio Mixer is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality at an Affordable Price I needed a smaller mixer for portability to take with me on On-Location video shoots. It has 4 XLR w/ Phantom power plus 8 other line inputs. Each of the 4 XLR inputs have gain control on them which is perfect for studio condensors or wireless lavs. You can output via unbalanced phono plugs or RCA making the recording device flexible. You can easily record to a computer, digital recorder, tape deck or video camera by simply selecting the correct cables. In my case I bought some 1/4 phono to XLR cables to connect to my camera. While I only needed the 4 XLR inputs and nothing else, it is nice to know that I also have 8 other line inputs available for future use should I need them. The EQ is also nice to have. Usually I will record straight audio and add effects post but it is nice to have some pre-recording control as well. The size is nice as well. While the mixer is compact and can easily fit into a small pelican case, the controls are large enough to easily use. It would be nice if it had a larger vu meter with more then -20, 0, +6 and clip but this is not an issue. Just set at around 0 and refer to your recorder's input vu meter and you will be fine. The next size up meter has a lager vu meter so if you need it, upgrade one more model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing power packed into a small bundle After searching around for quite a bit, I decided to settle on the XENYX 12 channel mixer as my dedicated live / recording pre-amp and mixer. I absolutely love the controls on here; nothing feels like plastic, nothing feels as though I could break it off with my pinky. The one single detriment to this beautiful, affordable machine is the lack of a power switch; if it's plugged in, it's on. Other than that, I find no faults in this Behringer supreme.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good bang for the buck I bought this product in order to mix sound for video depositions and/or trial testimony. It has 4 pre-amped 1/2 inch inputs for the lav mics I already owned. It has worked great so far. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks for the recommendation Our minister needed a lavalier mic. The guys at B&H said we would need a mixer, something about line level. I spent longer reading the directions than I did getting it up and running. Plugged it into our old but reliable power amp and seconds later I am balancing our microphones. Great directions - great quality sound. Looks like we will run all the mics and a CD player through it. Thanks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One Major Limitation I have a legal videography business and wanted to replace my monaural mixer with a good stereo amp/mixer, and the Behringer Xenyx 1202 fits the bill beautifully. It has plenty of inputs and output options for a wide variety of microphones and accessories; and all for a great price. That's the good. The one NOT so good discovery is that my lavalier mics (with XLR connections) don't work with it. All I get is a hiss out of them. I suspect it is an analog/digital issue as my Boundary Mic with XLR connection works just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart Buy I use the mixer for depositions, special events, large and small industrial projects. I am a 20+ year video producer and I would recommend this product for purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Having EQ is Wonderful I have been experimenting with this mixer for the last week. I am recording my songs on my Yamaha C3 Grand and doing my vocals. I love being able to pan the piano to one side and the vocals to the other. I can adjust the EQ for each microphone. Then I send the sound to my Boss900 and use the effects to adjust things further. Now I just need to sit down every night and record a song or two. Then I will have finished my 3rd album of original songs. Thank you so much.
