HOW DO I NEED FOR CONNECT RODE NTG3 WITH RED ...
HOW DO I NEED FOR CONNECT RODE NTG3 WITH RED KOMODO?
Because the Rode NTG3 Moisture-Resistant Shotgun Microphone requires phantom power from its input connection, it will not connect to and work directly with the 3.5mm audio input on the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera. An external adapter offering phantom power such as the Beachtek DXA-MAX 2-Channel Active Audio Adapter (BH #BEDXAMAX) would work to power the NTG-3 and pass its signal into the KOMODO.

can this record car sounds when placed near the ...
can this record car sounds when placed near the exhoust for example? or does it kill the mic
The RODE NTG3 Shotgun Microphone could be used to pickup sounds from the car, but I would not recommend leaving it too close to the exhaust as dirt and heat from the exhaust could permanently damage the mic.

question
What's the difference between the NTG3 & the NTG8? And which is better??
The NTG3 and NTG8 are similar in internal components and both offer great sound quality. The difference in the mics is the length of the interference tube. The NTG8 being a longer mic at 22 vs the NTG3 at 10 inches. The longer tube is directly related to the directionality in capture for use in applications where a tight pickup pattern or recording from a distance is required.

Is this Mic compatible with the Canon G40?
Is this Mic compatible with the Canon G40?
Hello Trey, unfortunately, you need 48v phantom power to operate the NTG3. It doesn't appear the G40 provides that. I recommend the Rode NTG2 or 4+ as they have power in the microphone.
