Useful for minimizing reflections and glare and enhancing the overall color and tonal saturation is the 72mm Circular Polarizing Filter from Canon. By filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface, this filter helps to produce a noticeable increase in saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto-exposure functions.

Reduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Optical glass is used in order to maintain clear image quality with high contrast and color fidelity.

This filter is not compatible with the Canon Powershot SX60. You will need the Canon Filter Adapter FA-DC67A which then accepts any 67mm filter.

Why does this filter turn?

You would turn the ring on this circular polarizer in order to correct for any glare/reflections or to deepen the color in your image.

question

In the Canon lens manual, it has a caution to use Canon Circular Polarizing Filter if a polarizing filter is needed. Is there a technical reason to use a Canon product? Or would any high quality polarizing filter be just as effective?

question

Will this work with the canon rebel t3 slr? why is it labeled 52 mm? will it work with canon 70-300 zoom lens and canon standard 18-55 mm lens?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Canon Rebel T3 SLR can be used with circular polarizers, however the lens/lenses you use will determine the specific filter size you need. This particular one is labeled 52mm as the diameter (measurement of line through the center) is 52mm wide. The Canon 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses in this instance both have 58mm sized filter threads to mount filters and lens caps. So this 52mm sized filter is not compatible with those lenses.
