Celestron's X-Cel LX 5mm Eyepiece is designed for comfortable near and deep-space astronomical observation. It is built with a 6-element lens configuration, blackened edges, and anti-reflective fully multi-coated optical surfaces to ensure bright and clear high-contrast images with true color transmission across the entire wide 60° field of view. Celestron engineered the X-Cel LX series of eyepieces with a long 16mm eye relief that brings the user's face back from the scope to minimize vibrations caused by contact with the eyepiece. All eyepieces in the series are completely parfocal, making switching eyepieces convenient by not requiring re-focusing. With a 1.25" diameter barrel, it will fit the most common size drawtubes, visual backs, and accessories; and a rubberized collar provides a non-slip grip especially in cold weather and when wearing gloves. The housing is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum alloy with a reflection-limiting matte anodized finish, and a retractable eyecup that extends with a simple twist for comfortable use with or without eyewear.

I have several sets of eyepieces. Original TMB, Zhumell Planetary, ED’s, Paradigm, and Baader Hyperion. All these sets give sharp images and I have no complaints. The Celestron Excel lx set is on par with the rest of these eyepieces. Well made and have a quality look of their own. For the price a whole set is really worth it.

Can it fit on a celestron astromaster 114eq?
The X-Cel eyepiece range are good quality, reasonably priced, quite wide field eyepieces (60 degree field), and are parfocal or very close to it. In other words they can be changed without having to refocus. I own a whole set.The 5mm will give you 200 magnification with your telescope, a practical maximum for the moon, bright planets, and double stars. The eyepiece has a standard 1.25 fitting and will fit your telescope and there should be no problem in achieving focus. There is good eye relief, so you don't have to jam your eye up against it to get a good field of view. However all this comes at a cost and it is a little bulkier.I would recommend it as your high magnification, but don't overlook a reasonable mid and low magnification eyepieces to complete your set.... and you can always take them with you if/when you upgrade.The fact that the eyepiece is a little
