    Benro B3 reviews

B3 Triple Action Ball Head is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, decent value Ballhead is solid and keeps a Nikon D3s with a 70-200 lens immovably in place at any angle, regardless of whether the PU70 plate is on the camera or screwed onto the lens' tripod foot. Works great with Arca Swiss plates and with my Really Right Stuff L-plate. In other words, the B3 does what it's supposed to do, no muss no fuss. Value is all right. I subtract half a star for it being up there in price (chances are any ballhead over $100-120 will do what this one does just as competently); and another half a star for the boneheaded absence of a D-ring on the PU70 plate, which means you need a screwdriver to attach it to the camera or lens. I bought replacement (knockoff?) plates that DO have D-rings and which can be finger-tightened, no tools needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Made Unit! The Benro B-3 is well finished and pretty easy to work with. The ball action is good & smooth-as are the tension knobs. I am giving it a 4 star rating because, like many ( I have not tried all of them) these units do not seem to be as stable with a heavy load as the manufacturer claims. Using a 70-200mm Nikon, even with the lens collar, this unit wants to sag. I have found that by first tightening the tension knob (tight) then the larger lock knob-it seems to work better for me. Reviews of other products, even those costing more $$, reveal that this is an industry wide problem. Just check your "lock" twice. Also the quick release plate, which functions pretty well, is hard to deal with in the dark-be careful. That being said, the product is alright, but I expected more for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Advertised I received this bullhead Friday evening and promptly mounted it atop my Sirui N-2204X Carbon tripod. I had a hiking trip planned for the next morning. At the trailhead (Ramsey's Cascade) I mounted my 5D lll with the 24-70 2.8 and tightened the adjustment knobs for no movement while hiking. I kept a tight grip on the camera strap as I was concerned about it falling off. I found at each stop that the camera even with the heavy lens was quite secure and not needing any tightening of the knobs. I completed this very active climb and found the bullhead held just as I set it. Using it for shots, it worked quite well, needing only a fair amount of tension for modest movement. I appreciated this for mounting the camera to the ballhead with a heavy lens out front is not desirable. I suspect that had I been using one of my "collared" lens, the balance would have been much better. it has the material and body that says it will last. I have no reservations about recommending this bento B3 Dbl Action Ballhead to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid ballhead Seems like a quality made product and solid as a rock even with large telephoto lenses and a gripped body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I would purchase again & recommend it to a friend. Can't compare it to any others this being the first ballhead I have owned. It does the job well so far. Even supports my Nikon D810 with the Nikkor 200-500 f5.6 well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Benro B3 Ball Head This is a strong head, with a solid build. I like the safety interlock on the bracket release, which prevents the camera from fully releasing pre-maturely when you loosen the bracket. That feature alone is what sold me on the head. The panning action is smooth, and precisely and evenly damped throughout the entire rotation range. The drag adjustment is a little on the light side if you have a heavier setup. Yes, it can hold my 6D with 70-200mm f/2.8 quite easily. But, the ball friction adjustment takes more experimenting to get right than I would like. The ball lock adjustment is very good. The ball easily locks up without having to over-torque the knob. Once ball friction is set, though, you will completely forget about the head.CONS: If I were left handed, then this head would be perfect. I'm right handed, so I point the ball locking knob to the right, which places the pan knob on other side pointing away from me, and the friction knob pointing towards me. Initially, I kept turning the friction knob, instead of the panning lock knob. I also have an issue with the fact that I cannot read the rotation scale on the base from any angle.Aside from my personal preferences, I highly recommend this head to anyone with heavier gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! My one complaint about this ballhead is a side effect of all the things I love about it. It is well built, able to handle my 6D Mark II with battery grip and heavy Sigma lens with ease. When you set it you can rest assured it will stay there. The movement is fluid. It has performed flawlessly shooting panoramas, timelapses and portraits. The one downside is that the friction device does not permit ship pans. While the three knob designed is a bit old school I love this ballhead and would recommend it without hesitation. It was well worth the money and I expect it will last for many, many years.
