Ideal for photographing in high contrast situations, the 100 x 150mm Galen Rowell Graduated Neutral Density 1.2 Soft-Edge Filter from Singh-Ray helps to balance exposures and produce imagery with greater highlight and shadow detail. The filter's design places the 1.2, 4-stop density at the top of the filter and then transitions to clear by the center of the filter for a gradual, natural appearance. The soft-edge transition between the density and clear areas is well-suited for photographing scenes with an uneven or indistinct horizon line, as well as when working with a wide-angle lens. This filter is constructed from optical resin that is both durable and helps to maintain high clarity, and is compatible with the Cokin Z-Pro filter holder.

Traditional graduated neutral density places the most density at the edge of the filter and tapers to clear by the center of the filter in order to accommodate photographing scenes with large bright areas, such as a daytime sky.
Soft-edge transition between density and clear portions of the filter is suitable for photographing scenes with an indistinct or uneven horizon or line between light and shadow, and is also best-suited for use with a wide-angle lens.
Neutral density 1.2 provides a 4 stop reduction in light in selective areas.
Constructed from optical resin for overall clarity and durability.
Compatible for use with the Cokin Z-Pro filter holder.
Included filter pouch protects the filter when not in use.

    100 x 150mm Galen Rowell Graduated Neutral Density 1.2 Soft-Edge Filter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Singh Ray rocks I do landscape photography and must have neutral density filters to hold back bright skies while seeing detail in shadows. I choose to use sing ray filters because they don't break like glass filters, have virtually no perceptible color cast (using 2 nod filters will give a little change in color), and they made for rough use. I won't ever use glass. At $- each, I have over $ of filters in my kit. Imagine a rough road, a fall, or a bump costing you $ and losing 3 days shooting with expenses at $- per day. or more with guides per day. If they were good enough Galen Rowell....b&h is a photographers best friend. Large inventory ready immediately, outstanding price, and reasonable return policy if necessary. I have 1-4 stop hard and 1-4 stop soft edge neutral density filters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter I use a reverse ND grad more than anything, but I have wanted this filter for a long time. It's a solid performer, but is easily scratch as is with resin filters. It is pricey, but it's very worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy way to overcome light contrast! I mostly do landscape shots and a two stop neutral density is not enough. This four stop does an excellent job and is a much higher quality than the cheaper Cokin filters.
