    Pelican 945 reviews

0945 Memory Card Case is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 220.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from A Minus for PELICAN Like most peole who wrote a review...I had the 1st model (held 4 CF Cards) and it was/is a great carrying case. I figured this would be the same but a larger version. Without a doubt...the quality is a fraction of the original and the foam insert is TOTAL GARBAGE!! compared to the stamped rubber of the original. It works, but it is a pain to get 6 cards in at once. I am using it, but I wish PELICAN would make it like the older version. It's not the PELICAN brand that I have used for years and love/respect. I would never give up my Travel Cases for my gear..but if this is the new direction for their products, I will have to look elsewhere...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible sequel I own two 0940 Pelican cases, with the silicon inserts and they are amazing. Hold up to ton of abuse. These new 0945 replacements are terrible! The foam inserts have me wasting precious seconds fumbling trying to get the cards in and out, as they never just fit in. Also, with the old cases you could place the cards horizontally or vertically (I used placement to keep track of which cards were full, empty, and empty and formatted). The plastic case material itself feels very cheap compared to the old cases as well, and they are bulkier, too. I hate the new cases. Waste of money. Why Pelican changed the perfect case into this piece of junk, is beyond me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A definate downgrade from the previous I use this product in our event production. The pros; it's pelican. The cons; it's a downgrade in material from the prior model. The foam is harder to deal with, the case itself is cheaper feeling plastic. In live events, I don't have time to fight cheap foam. Getting the cards in and out is more challenging because Pelican downgraded the foam from the prior model. Given the importance of what cards hold for me, I was pretty disappointed with the cheaper overall feel of this case. I hope Pelican reads this and goes back to the prior model's much better construction. I own both and their is a big difference between them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Card storage for the slightly paranoid. Pelican cases are frequently overkill for storing most photography. By and large, it's all built rather well, or is inexpensive enough that the bulk, cost, and weight of a Pelican case are more than necessary. Cards, by comparison, are relatively susceptible to mechanical damage and moisture intrusion. Which is why I store both SD and CF cards in these miniature cases. Since the cards are already quite small, the case's size is quite manageable, and since I carry lots of spare cards, I like the ones outside the camera to be as well-protected as the ones in the camera. Card storage is one instance where Pelican toughness makes perfect sense.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible. I owned the previous version of Pelican memory card case. I don't recall the model number but it only held four CF cards. I decided that I needed a larger card case and saw this new product from Pelican. It was a no-brainer to buy this since I was thrilled by the quality of the previous Pelican case. Upon receiving this case, before I even opened it, it was notable that the manufacturing of this case is sub-standard in comparison to the previous model. The plastic is cheaper, the finish is not as good, and it doesn't feel robust in the hand. But that is the good part. Clearly, no-one at Pelican beta tested this thing or they would never have approved it. The foam inside is too soft and flexible. Because of this, there is no easy way to insert your card into the provided spaces. The edges of the card bites into and crushes the foam edges and the card doesn't lock into place. Really, this is such an oversight, it is almost an insult to the good name of Pelican. The previous version of this case has the perfect hard-foam inserts to hold the cards securely, easily insert and remove the cards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't listen to the negative reviews. Despite all the good reviews of this product, the negative reviews nearly stopped me from buying this case. I'm glad I went ahead and bought it anyway. The case is strong, compact and easy to open while maintaining a sturdy lock. The foam card cut-outs are perfectly etched out to give your card a snug fit. If you take care inserting your card from one side to the other rather than mashing the card into place with your fist, they will fit perfectly every time with no damage to the foam. Using this careful technique is still quick and easy. I really don't understand the negative reviews about the foam becoming loose. It's reasonably priced for the quality and I'll be buying another one when I need to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pelican quality I cannot compare this to the previous 4 card model but this 6 card version seems to have all the reliability of Pelican products. My CF cards fit easily and the case seems secure. I will be testing it out thoroughly on my upcoming travels which will include both desert and jungle trekking. I also ordered the 0915 version to hold SD cards. I was lead to believe that the inserts are interchangeable so that I could make one case suitable for both CF and SD. This is not the case as the inserts appear to be glued in to the card cases. In spite of this I plan to keep these card cases and see how they stand up over time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Terrible It does what it's supposed to and that's why I gave it 3 stars. I've purchased a Pelican 0940 Memory Card Case before and it had rubber interior, felt strong and met expectations from what I felt Pelican should deliver. It is now discontinued for some reason. This particular card holder has foam interior that feels like it could tear over time. The Pelican 0940 felt sturdier than this. It is specifically designed for CF cards only. Having all 6 cards in felt like a tight fit and wouldn't leave me to find them floating around inside. Maybe that's the deign, but it felt too tight, thus hard to get in/out. I wish I could give it more stars, but the final build quality was lower than expected. It even felt cheap.
