The ESN-DK23 Eyecup from Vello is a replacement eyepiece for select Nikon cameras that provides a large, oval eyecup for more comfortable viewing through the viewfinder. The large shape of the eyecup improves the image quality in the viewfinder by sealing out all extraneous light. It can rotate 360º to accommodate both the left and right eye and horizontal and vertical shooting positions. The eyecup extends from the viewfinder, blocking stray light and providing a clearer image. The soft yet durable rubber design is comfortable for those who do not wear eyeglasses and will not scratch or damage the glasses of those who do. It mounts easily and securely on the camera's viewfinder.

ESN-DK23 Eyecup for Select Nikon Cameras is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from good idea pity about the fit I tried this eyeshade on my Nikon D7100 for a day or two. unfortunately most of the time I spent readjusting my position on the eyecup due to the fact that the eyecup is circular and the viewfinder being rectangular. I found the hole too small cutting off the top left and right corners of the viewfinder. meaning I had to position the camera slightly higher on my eye to get even close to an unobstructed view. on top of this the eyecup slipped off twice whilst my camera was hanging from my J--By quickdraw shoulder strap. unfortunately failed on precision of fit and impeding my view to compose a decent shot. sorry love most of this Brands gear but a thumbs down for this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big cup, small issues The eye cup works as expected. I need something for shooting outdoor youth sports. It helps keep sun light from creeping around the side of your eye and view finder. I tend to follow the game a lot through the view finder. The flesh around my eye gets sore from 'camera rub'. The size of the eye cup keeps my flesh off the camera. The one down side is also an upside. The size of the cup. The size blocks my camera monitor a little. I have to remove it to open and close the monitor. It also blocks the image a little when your reviewing your shot. Maybe this is a good thing if you need a cure for chimping the image. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Eyeshade I love this eyeshade. I live in a region of bright colors and intense sun. This little devide helps me isolate the viewfinder and prevents more light/glare to enter. It also helps when I have sunscreen on my face by creating a space between the LCD display and my cheek so that I don't smear the LCD display all over. The only problem is that it is a bit loose and it does fall out. Just need to tighten the fit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Has its faults The vello eye piece seems well made and is nice and comfortable on the eye. However, one big problem is that it does not sit tightly and the smallest knock will cause it to pop off. I lost mine less than 2 weeks after I purchased it whilst doing a photoshoot. In all fairness the original DK-21 eyepiece suffers from the same problem, although as the vello eyepiece protrudes more, it is more vulnerable to being knocked. As a result, I would not recommend this product, unless you plan to superglue it down.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could Work The eye cup part, the molded rubber eye-piece is well done, but the rest was poorly designed. The main problem is the piece does not attach properly, with enough hol. There is not enough engagement pressure or engagement part(s) stiffness to keep the piece on securely. Also with a good re-design the eyepiece could be thinner, the rubber eye cup come 1/16 closer to the camera eye-piece, making it protrude less and getting the eye that much closer to the viewfinder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really Wanted To Love This The ESN-DK23 Eyeshade was an accesory I really wanted to love as I viewed it as a nice upgrade to the standard issue eyepeice. I'll start with the positives. It pretty much eliminates any light leaks and fits itself to the shape and contours of your eye socket. This made it a more comfortable fit and was really nice to use. Precisely the reason I bought it. The main drawbacks to it was it is loose fitting. I didn't mind that it covered some of the LCD as it is pretty large. If you take your camera pretty much everywhere you go (hanging off your shoulder,) than the eyepeice is susceptible to being knocked off your camera. It's happened to me on numerous occasions with people running up to me with it, sitting few feet from my car in the parking lot, etc. So, I've been lucky. Great idea, needs to be tighter fitting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So-so product. I got this eyeshade to help block light and debris from my eyepiece. It is a definite improvement over the standard Nikon eyepiece, but falls short. Overall I'd have to say I'm a bit disappointed. Build quality seems decent for what little it is, but what I don't like is: 1.) The overall shape does not fit my face well. No matter which way I rotated it, I could not get a good fit to the point where it wasn't poking my face somewhere and was still perfectly lined up. 2.) It blocks the display too much. This might not be an issue to some, but I frequently check my shots after taking them. This eyeshade blocks a significant part of the display. For me, this is a big detractor. Overall I like the concept, but I feel that the execution is poor. I have been 100% happy with all 7 of my Vello products in the past, this being the exception.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from very comfortable but blocks the LCD screen The product looks as described. It is installed very easily and matches the Nikon D5100 viewfinder perfectly. It is really comfortable and covers the eye very well in both portrait and landscape positions. The problem is that the LCD screen is partially covered by the lower edge of the eyeshade. You will not be able to open the LCD when eyeshade is installed.
