    Magnus VT-100 Reviews

VT-100 Tripod System with 2-Way Pan Head is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tripod for beginner videographers This little guy is a perfect pre-pro tripod for my beginner videographer students. It has all of the primary features of the pro tripods but in a small, inexpensive package. The trade-off is to keep the price within range of a beginner videographer, the parts and pieces are not pro quality; even so they are pretty well designed. So if you're just getting started, this is a much better option than a wanna-be tripod or a still camera tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed at the right price. I was booked to give a presentation out of town and I wanted to video tape it. The tripod I had used in the past had broken and was unusable. My cousin suggested I go to B&H to look and see what was available. Time was tight as I was due to leave the next day and I was traveling light. B&H had exactly what I needed and at a very reasonable price. The only drawback was that it was a tad heavy carrying it in my shoulder bag. The next time I need to purchase some other items and equipment and I will check B&H first.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great amateur tripod! I bought this while I was in New York, in the store as I was looking around for a tripod. I had about $50 to spend, so I couldn't get those massive studio-grade tripods. I ended up just getting this and shipping it home. I got home and it arrived a few days later, and boy was I excited! I haven't gotten to really use it for much yet. I bought this mainly for taking pictures/videos of planes landing/taking off but I used it to take pictures of the planes that are already 10,000 feet in the air. It's so much easier to hold things steady. The only complaint i have about it is that when its fully extended, it's not really planted into the ground very well. When panning up or down, a leg of the tripod always seems to come up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing quality for an amazing price In Australia a tripod like this costs around $90 and a lot of tripods that I found for around $$in person were too small and made of cheap materials. This tripod here went way over my expectations. The tilting is amazingly smooth, the legs are reasonably sturdy and overall it actually looks quite professional. I'm not a professional photographer or videographer but I want to work on music videos and skate clips. Although I've only had it for about 2 weeks I feel confident that it's durable and reliable and will always be stable over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice for High School program on a budget! I bought several of these tripods for my beginner Digital Media Arts students. It has everything I expect from a professional-grade tripod at a very affordable price-point. It is definitely not pro-quality, but the price allows me to have several for students to learn and practice with while I buy single higher-end tripods when my program can afford it. Treat the drags with with care, and the pan and tilt function well, especially with smaller camcorders. With the number of students my program serves, these are essential tools to have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light & Handy I absolutely can not complain about this tripod. I was getting frustrated in store looking for something in this price range with these functions and the sales person led me straight to it. There was a slightly more expensive one, but based on what I told him, he was professional enough to say this was likely a better pick. I'm glad I went with this tripod - smooth turns, light to carry, easy to use - absolutely perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solidly built, sturdy, great for cameras I bought this tripod for use with two things: my camcorder and my digital recorder. It works like a charm with the camera - it's stable, solid, and works beautifully. Unfortunately, the mounting plate on the tripod doesn't work so well with the recorder. The screw on the plate is just a little too long, so when the screw is tightened down, the recorder still spins freely on the mounting plate. The only other con is the resistance of the fluid head - even when fully released, there's still a LOT of resistance when you try to tilt/pan - more than I would normally expect. However, that's probably something I'll learn to get over. The lock on the spreader is also quite handy, and the guide marks on the head are also a great addition. I also love the ball-mounted rubber feet - makes securing the tripod a breeze.Aside from that issue, it's an outstanding tripod - money well spent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Magnus VT-100 Tripod - Product Review This is a nice lightweight fluid head tripod. I'm using it for videotaping meetings in conference rooms. The tripod fits in a small bag for easy transport. The thing that wasn't so great was that the head had some 'play' in it, causing a jerky picture on screen. I had to choose from about 5 tripods in stock to find a good one with no play in the fluid head.
