This Cavision 72-82mm Step-Up Ring enables the use of 82mm threaded filters on lenses with 72mm filter threads. The 6mm depth enables this ring to fill the gap between the lens and the back of select rod-mounted matte boxes, helping to keep reflections from hitting your lens. The step-up ring has an 85mm outside diameter for use with clip-on matte boxes. It features a lightweight aluminum alloy construction with a black anodized finish.

Cavision AR82-72D6 Reviews
flimsy, not much cheaper
not as good as the sensei brand pro aluminum, which is almost as cheap and better made. This just feels more flimsy, and makes a slightly scratchy sound when you screw it on. It's slightly lighter than the alternatives, but that still doesn't make much difference to the weight of your whole rig. I think the front thread on this is shallower than usual, so if you need that for some reason, maybe this is good. But 82mm filter accessories aren't cheap, so you'll want it to screw on all the way for safety, and the thickness of the receiving thread on this ring doesn't make any difference to the depth of the filter you screw on to it. so it probably won't make any difference if you thought this extra slim cavision ring might reduce vignetting. my tip, sensei pro aluminum seems just as good as any more expensive aluminum step ring. best bang for buck on the sensei pro aluminum. century optic rings and nisi brass rings are the best quality that I have used. but century is less available than it used to be, and nisi is not available in all sizes. if you're using it for a heavy accessory like a matte box, achromatic diopter closeup filter, or auxiliary lens, it's worth it to upgrade to brass. for any application that is just a normal lightweight filter, a sensei pro aluminum will work just fine.
Worth every penny
Great piece, works as advertised and well made. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a step up ring..
