This Cavision 77-82mm Step-Up Ring enables the use of 82mm threaded filters on lenses with 77mm filter threads. The 12mm depth enables this ring to fill the gap between the lens and the back of select rod-mounted matte boxes, helping to keep reflections from hitting your lens. The step-up ring has an 85mm outside diameter for use with clip-on matte boxes. It features a lightweight aluminum alloy construction with a black anodized finish.

Cavision AR82-77D12 Reviews
Yep, it works. I have several!
I purchased the Cavision 77 to 82 mm x 12mm threaded step-up ring to adapt their 3x3 matte boxes to a Fulinon S lens on my EX3. If you get one for this purpose, get the 12mm deep adapter rings else the matte box will not stay on well. The step-up ring is made of quality aluminum. It threads on my lenses smoothly and firmly. It does not feel cheap. It has a black matte finish. The threads are de-burred nicely so it won't grab or wear your lens threads. I have purchased three different ones and adapted their matte box to several camera lenses, I'd recommend these to anyone.
So thick, it's stupid. Wouldn't buy it again.
I wouldn't buy it again, the photo looked a little thick, but it's actually about 3x thicker than it needs to be. Causes vignetting on even moderately wide lenses. Unfortunately, it was the only 77-82 available when I placed my order, but it's so cheap that there's not much point in dealing with a return on it. I'll have to pick up a different one on my next order.
