LensCoat RainCoat Reviews

Protects a short lens, but the rear opening is very wide

The sleeve length is designed for a body and a small lens - say a 100mm macro or shorter wide angle lens. But the rear opening is huge, making the rear of the sleeve almost as tall as the sleeve is long. For just carrying a camera round on a strap, that massive opening lets rain in unless you cinch it down. With an R7 and RF 24-105 STM, I didn't have enough fabric to fold the sleeve around the body without holding it closed with my hand. But if you cinch it down you need to fiddle to take a shot. It seems designed for tripod work where the camera would be mounted at eye level and the large rear opening would make it much easier to work a camera. TL;DR: Designed for a tripod use with a short lens. If you're carrying a body around without a tripod, the large rear opening will let your equipment get wet.

Not very protective

I found this to be practically useless. I should note that I was hand holding the camera, still the covering did not stay in place and operating the camera was difficult. If you use it solely on a tripod, your results may be different. The bottom line is that it did not really keep my camera dry.
