The Speed Ring for Elinchrom EL and Impact EX from Impact features indexed flex rod holes that allow you to effortlessly mount any square, rectangular, strip, or octagonal Luxbanx softbox to Elinchrome EL (except Quadra) and Impact EX flash heads. The ring will also fit most other brands of softbox. The sturdy all-metal ring rotates 360 degrees to facilitate orientation or to clear obstacles in tight quarters. Impact SR-ELI Reviews
THE FIX...Impact speed ring does not work correctly
The speed ring screw mechanism jams against the locking ring and will not attach correctly. Unscrew the 4 screws and locking nuts, reverse them so the screw head is inside and the locking nut / washer is on the outside, soft box side. No problem it will now mount and dismount easily with no problem.
Some fixes are not as easy as others!
This speed ring is as solid as one expects from an Impact product & it does fit the Elinchrom Q-Reflector Adapter MK-II, it does. BUT, it is incredibly tight and removing it is not a simple matter of unlock & twist - mine seemed jammed & looking at the adapter which is largely plastic, I did not want to strong arm it & break it. The sales guys & tech team have no data on this & reality there are two solutions: 1. Use a #10 Torx and take the thing to pieces (I did) then rebuild and notice how / why it is so tight. 2. Keep your cool & know that it will eventually come free, but it needs a bit of help. Silver lining: It works - it is a problem - your mods will not fall off the adapter or light.
