Own multiple of these and never had a problem with them. Good quality for the money compared to competition.

These are a lot cheeper then the real profoto speedrings and they do what they need to do (connect the flash to your modifier). The downside it that they are more egg shaped then round do it's a bit of a struggle to put them on. I've also had two of them for two years and it hasn't gotten any easier so don't expect them to break in. Still, they are less the half the price and that can really add up when you have a bunch of modifiers.

Great quality and price

The Impact Speed Ring fit snugly when installed on B2 heads; when the clamp was closed, it was very tight. The self-locking nut for the ring retainer assembly is a good design that will not become loose through use. It is all aluminum, thus saving weight.

Thoughtful design, quality construction

The speedring is being used for rectangular and strip light softboxes with B2 heads. It fits quite snugly and clamps tightly to the B2. It is all aluminum construction makes it lightweight for its size. I had to enlarge the rod holes slightly to fit the rods an old Calumet softbox. This is understandable since most new rods are a smaller diameter. Westscott rods fit perfectly. The rotating flange hardware is well designed - self locking nuts secure the retainer screws and spring assembly. The rod holes have letters that correspond to the different types of softboxes (strip, rectangular, square, octa.) Thank you B&H for giving us an option for Profoto speed rings!

Sometimes it works to get a knock-off, sometimes it doesn't. This is a case where it doesn't. My real Profoto speed rings fit perfectly on my Fiilex P360 lights (which are made to take Profoto speed rings). I had to really struggle to get this Impact speed ring on, and I was afraid I was going to break the light. Then I came here and saw comments from people who said the metal isn't a perfect circle. I took the speed ring off, and I see that is true. Unfortunately, it's too late for me to return. I will be buying the expensive Profoto speed rings now. Expensive, but they work.

Not quite round

The price is sooo much better than the Profoto versions, but they weren't round so I had to force them on my D2's. Once on they do the job.

question

Does this product then work with profoto octa soft boxes/modifiers like the profoto rfi speedring or only impact modifiers?
Asked by: Paul
I use this with a pre RFi Softbox. I have no issue, nor can I tell a difference between this and the Pre RFi Speedring. I have it on a 3x4 Profoto RF Softbox. The only difference I can see is the Profoto Speed ring for that era says insert or R I on the hole inserts. This one says A/B, or A, or B. Maybe I've been lucky, but no damaged rods or Softbox.

Does the inner part that attaches to the Profoto ...

Does the inner part that attaches to the Profoto light come off? If so, what are the outer dimensions (across the hole) between the outer edge of the flanges? Reason I ask, I have many PCB softboxes and its proving difficult to find a Profoto adapter. But looking at this, the inner mount with flanges appears like it would fit on the PCB softbox, if its roughly 136mm width.
Asked by: John
The adapter is designed to work with a specific unit and its exact measurements are not published. However we do know people have tried it with the PCBuff softboxes and it does not work.
