If you missed your chance to grab Hasselblad’s limited edition 907X Special Edition last year, never fear! Hasselblad has just released the 907X 50C Mirrorless Digital Camera, one of the most compact and beautiful medium format digital cameras on the market. Complementing this modular camera is a dedicated Control Grip and Optical Viewfinder.

The 907X is compatible with the XCD range of mirrorless lenses, as well as HC/HCD, V system, and XPan lenses via optional adapters. The CFV II 50C digital back consists of a 50MP CMOS 44 x 33mm medium format sensor capable of a whopping 14 stops of dynamic range and 16-bit color depth. Hasselblad’s Natural Color Solution technology ensures true-to-life color, producing natural skin tones, brilliant landscapes, and precise reproductions. Files can be saved as Hasselblad 3FR raw or full-size JPEG.

A tilting 3.0" 920k-dot touchscreen simplifies operation and features a 60 fps refresh rate for natural playback, as well  as touch autofocus control. Two SD memory card slots support UHS-II protocol cards, and a USB 3.0 Type-C connector lets you transfer files or shoot tethered using the Phocus Mobile 2 app. Additionally, you can share files or control the camera over Wi-Fi, and an integrated GPS module can keep track of the location of shots.

Together, the 907X and CFV II 50C back weigh only 1.6 lb, making for an extremely portable digital medium format camera. It is crafted of machined aluminum and is arguably as aesthetically pleasing as the images it is capable of producing.

The 907X Control Grip improves handling for photographers accustomed to the more pronounced right-hand grip of DSLR and mirrorless camera bodies. It also allows for quicker adjustments to aperture and shutter speed via a control dial, and autofocus point selection via a joystick control. There is also the option to customize four additional buttons to perform one of 30 functions.

The 907X Optical Viewfinder recalls Hasselblad’s SWC viewfinder and is the perfect add-on for eye-level shooting. Attaching to the camera via its accessory shoe, it has a wide field of view and frame markings for XCD 21, 30, and 45mm lenses, as well as a center cross to help with critical alignment.

Can this digital back be attached with 500 series Camera - like 500CM, 500CW, 502, etc.? Can this digital back capture image using Old Zeiss lens like Planar 50mm f/2.8 or Distagon lens?

Yes, the Hasselblad CFV II 50C digital back may be paired with most Hasselblad V System 500-series film cameras made from 1957 and onwards in addition to technical cameras.  As such, it may be used with the cameras you listed above.  As long as the ZEISS lenses you wish to use are designed for use with and will mount on your Hasselblad V-system 500-series cameras you own, then the camera & ZEISS lens setup may be paired with and used with the CFV II 50C digital back.

I have a 500C I have used for over 45 years. How will the 907X 50C interact with the older 500C body? Can I use my existing lenses without adapters?

Being that the mount on the Hasselblad X system cameras is different from that of the V system, an adapter will be needed to mount your current lenses on the 907X body. That adapter would be the Hasselblad XV Lens Adapter, BH # HAXVLA.

What is the camera warranty, both factory and store?

Hasselblad includes a 1 year Hasselblad USA warranty against defects. We offer additional coverage via Squaretrade at an additional cost. Those plans can be purchased at the same time as the camera or within 30 days of the original purchase date. Unlike the manufacturer's warranty, they would cover accidental damage. You may see and compare those plans upon adding the 907X to your online cart.

It would be interesting to know how you shoot in a portrait format. Does the touch screen rotate as you rotate the camera? or are you confined to landscape mode?

Hi Conor--

The visual interface (menus, on-screen elements) is fixed in landscape but the images auto-rotate when you are shooting in portrait orientation. Hope this clarifies.
