Elektron began making high-quality analog/digital hybrid instruments in 1998 and has become one of the most respected manufacturers of professional analog/digital hybrid instruments, including the Analog Rytm, Analog Four, Ocatrack, and Analog Keys, as well as the latest sound processors, the Analog Drive and Analog Heat. Last year, Elektron announced that it would no longer be producing its highly regarded Machinedrum synthetic percussion sequencer to make room for new endeavors. The highly anticipated Elektron Digitakt is the company’s latest, super-affordable digital drum machine and sampler.
Digitakt includes a highly flexible digital sound engine with sampling capabilities, a live-friendly sequencer, and eight dedicated tracks for controlling external MIDI gear. The high-resolution encoders and durable backlit buttons (rated for 50 million presses) are designed for a lifetime of use, while the crisp OLED screen offers a clear and streamlined user interface. Each internal voice includes its own digital multi-mode filter, distortion, and assignable LFO, as well as dedicated envelopes for the filter and amplifier section. Additionally, there are dedicated reverb and delay effects sends for each sound.
The Digitakt also features the parameter lock capabilities, a powerful and unique sound-shaping function, which allows any parameter to be affixed to any point on the sequencer, resulting in stunning effects that are accurately timed. What's more, any parameters that have been adjusted can be undone at the press of a button. The instrument comes pre-loaded with 400+ sounds and samples including acoustic & electronic drums, synth sounds, and oscillator/noise loops.
Later this year, the Elektron will offer Overbridge for Digitakt, which is a software extension that allows you to use Elektron's analog hardware as a plug-in within a DAW. You can design sounds on-screen, using an intuitive and dedicated plug-in, use the knobs and keys on the Digitakt instrument, or do both at the same time. Enjoy precise synchronization and automation.
