Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 overview

  • 1Description

This B&H Kit pairs a MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod with a MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head with 200PL Quick Release System. Holding up to 19.8 lb, and with a maximum height of 71.4", the tripod features a Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT055CXPRO3's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down low for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

The MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head is strong enough for most applications and ideally suited for this equally sturdy tripod. The XPRO lets you fine-tune your adjustments, thanks to separate knobs for both the ball and the 360° panning as well as a friction control knob for more exacting placement. The 200PL quick release clamp and plate allow for quick camera attachment and removal, and two bubble levels let you adjust your camera so the horizon is level. A numbered scale around the base of the head makes repeating exact pans an easy task.

  • Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod

The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 3-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO3 tripod. It has a load capacity of 19.8 lb and extends from 3.5" to 66.9". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

  • Manfrotto Manfrotto XPRO Magnesium Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

This XPRO Magnesium Ball Head from Manfrotto features an integrated RC2 quick release cam lock and a 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate. RC2 compatible quick release plates such as the 200PL-14 can be removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be instantly reattached. The cam lock also features a safety catch to prevent the 200PL-14, or another compatible quick release plate from accidentally disconnecting.

The XPRO Magnesium Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate has a load capacity of 22.1 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. By loosening this XPRO Magnesium Ball Head's primary locking knob, its ball-and-socket joint can be quickly swiveled, angled, fully tilted, or returned to its upright position. Toward the ball head's base is a secondary locking knob that controls the ability to rotate the head 360°. An additional knob opposite the secondary locking knob can be rotated to apply tension control to the ball-and-socket joint's movements.

Cameras or accessories that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the 200PL-14 quick release plate which measures 1.7 x 2.1 x 0.4" and has a rubberized, non-slip surface.

Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 reviews

MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod with MHXPRO-BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head with 200PL Quick Release System is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very solid build I have owned this unit for about 2 weeks now and I am very happy with it. The Tripod and head are solidly built. Even though the tripod is carbon, it is not what I would call light weight. When my camera with 50mm lens is attached, it he held still for long duration shots. I have used it for 6 minute exposures so far but have not tested in the wind. I am confident that it will be usable in at least mild wind as it does seem to lock the unit in place. The ball head is very smooth when panning or adjusting. It is also a solid part that you can tell is high quality. I am happy with the combined unit for my immediate needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Solid Build Great piece of gear. Carbon legs are stiff and light. Clamps are easy to release, and lock (It comes with a clamp adjustment tool). The ball head works great, but I replaced it with the pistol grip for quick setup and adjustments. The center column is stiff, and converts to 90 degrees. Buy the aluminum version to save money, but the raw carbon fiber legs with magnesium hardware is just awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I got this tripod a couple weeks ago and love it. So far, I have used it for macro and night photography. It's a great all around tripod. With the ball head it can rise above my head (I am 6 feet tall) and go down to a few inches off the ground. It feels sturdy at each height. The carbon fiber makes it quite sturdy and doesn't move much when you tap it. This is about the Same weight as my previous tripod, but with a lot more features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Simply awesome. Light, and stiff, the raw carbon legs are just beautiful to look at. Swapped the head for a pistol grip and threw the ball on some Gitzo legs. Some say carbon is not worth the cost over the alloy legs, but I disagree. Good for a pro, or semi pro. If you need something lighter, go for the 190 carbon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the effort to buy. Got this item in time for the eclipse. Put an 80d on with a 120-300 (6.7 lbs) Sigma and 2x converter. The ball head settled back alittle ( shooting almost straight up) , then held for numerous shots. Haven't tried the 90 degree offset yet but this thing works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Fan! After many years of using an aluminum tripod, I made the commit to carbon fiber. Pro friends said to quit stalling and I'm glad I made the move. Solid, sturdy tripod that works really well. Quick release clamps make adjusting the legs easy. The ball head clamps tight right where I need it to. I'm impressed with the workmanship and quality of the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good news ...for tripod and bald head i am a newbie to photo. after reading reviews, i decided on the Manfrotto. it is carbon...so lite weight. it appears to be rock solid even with my camera equipment on top-- there is no movement taking pics. i am using a rebel t2i with a 70-300 lens. i am outdoors mostly...love wildlife and natural landscapes. i am satisfied, however it is overkill for this newbie. Life is an adventure.
