Tiffen aXent overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 82mm XLE Series aXent Neutral Density 3.0 Filter is a solid ND filter with a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction. Its 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

3.0 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 10-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

82mm XLE Series aXent Neutral Density 3.0 Filter is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful colour cast I didn't noticeSome people posted their complaints in filters of a different size, so I'll save 82mm people trouble - this filter sucks for colour shots unless you want your pictures to look like they're from an old newspaper. Keep in mind I'm no brand snob - I have a no name filter I've been using for years for the cliche water flowing shot with no issues, so how hard can it be to get a ND3 filter for my new lens right? Wrong! I've spent hours looking for a nice correction with no luck. Don't waste your time, get a different brand!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Inexpensive/Starter ND Filter Exactly as advertised, less expensive that some others but a good way to get your feet wet with ND Filters. No problems with polarization one might get with a variable ND filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiffen 82mm filter This worked as advertised. I would buy it again as it did what I was expecting it to. Used for long exposure at Nubble Light in Maine and made the water look very smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT ND FILTER I bought this ND filter for waterfall photos in Korea. They work great, no color casting, and they do the job as an ND filter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Milky Way Just like any other Tiffen filters this is also quality made filter. I'm not sure if other manufacturers ND 3.0 filter gives the same unwanted red tinge or not. For me either I purchased a wrong type or I'm doing something wrong. But so far all pics I took with 30 seconds shutter speed turning out RED. I'm using this ND filter on Olympus OMD-EM1. I don't have any other 3.0 ND filter to compare with. Happy Shooting Ash
