Gitzo Systematic GT3543XLS Overview

The GT3543XLS Systematic Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Gitzo is a high capacity carbon fiber tripod that represents the ultimate goals of the Systematic lineup—minimal weight, durability, and uncompromising stability. The Series 3 tripods are optimal for traveling light but with extremely sturdy support, especially for those who prefer to work without a center column or need enhanced modularity.

Within the Series 3 line the GT3543XLS is given the "Extra Long" designation as it can extend from a minimum height of 3.9", to a maximum height of 79.5", all while maintaining an impressive weight capacity of 55 lb. Incorporating Gitzo's patented carbon eXact tubing, the GT3543XLS sports maximum rigidity while keeping its weight to an absolute minimum. Weighing just 5 lb allows the tripod it be easily carried or transported in the studio or out in the field. It's folded length of just 28" makes storing or travelling with the tripod easy and convenient.

The Systematic line also features an array of unique, patented, and useful features which set a standard for professional quality. The key design element of the series is the use of Gitzo's Carbon eXact tubes which are extremely rigid despite their lightweight design. The carbon tubing is complimented by Gitzo's G-Lock Ultra twist-locks which maintain stable, solid connections between leg sections and prevent joint damage by blocking out dirt, dust, and moisture. Each leg on the tripod features a 50mm rubber articulating foot, providing a stable and versatile base for setting the tripod on most surfaces. If required, the feet may be removed and replaced with optional metal spikes for increased stability in sand, dirt, mud, snow, and ice. The base of the tripod also features a 3/8"-16 Easy Link attachment thread, allowing the user to connect a variety of accessories to the tripod including magic arms, shoe adapters, LED lights, monitors, and more.

Fantastic tripod

I use this tripod with Canon 500mm v2, 600mm v2 and 800mm lenses. The cameras I use are Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 5 D Mark IV and Canon 1Dx Mark II and it is rock solid with them all. I liked the first one so much I purchased another because at times I want several lenses set on a particular spot mostly in my backyard. For travel I wish it was a little more compact but you can carry the lens on it over your back and not have much additional weight. Very easier to adjust height with the screw knobs. Couldn't be happier with my purchases.

Sturdy, strong, light, and extends tall. Excellent manufacturing. Not designed to be compact for travel. This is my go to for work that does not require me to get on an airplane.

My first use in the field and one of the legs is defective. The piece that stops the leg from coming out was broken/defective in the middle portion of one leg, and while out in the field the leg completely fell out. I was told this was normal, but the other legs and other sections stop and do not come all the way out. Sadly I will be returning and looking for better quality for the price.

This is a great tripod. It is incredibly stable. There are several different attachments tight are made for its feet that can make even more stable. It is relatively lightfoot its size. It is definitely worth the cost.

This is my third Gitzo. I purchased this one to handle some heavier gear and give me more height. You won't be disappointed

This is my 4th Gitzo tripod. I needed the extended legs for landscape photos. Every tripod and every accessory i have received from Gitzo never disappoints. They continually deliver quality with photographer-friendly features. Although some may feel their products are expensive, i have never regretted paying for this level of features and quality
