ORANGEMONKIE Foldio3 25" Mini Studio

Designed for use with smartphones, tablets, DSLRs, or compact cameras, the aptly named Foldio3 25" Mini Studio from ORANGEMONKIE is a 25 x 25 x 22" white portable light box that folds to a thickness of 2.5" and is easily carried by its convenient handle. Ideal for shooting small products and e-commerce, the Foldio3 has three daylight-balanced LED strips with dimmers so you can dial in the appropriate light intensity or create a ratio between the strips by dimming one of them. Black and white backdrops are included to vary your images and a multi-voltage AC power supply is also supplied. Download the free app to edit, web share, and make adjustments to chroma key, brightness, and color temperature.

    The Halo-bar for Foldio3 is an LED lighting accessory that attaches to the inside of the Foldio3 Mini Studio at its magnetic points. Its 2-part design makes it a good choice for edge-lighting your subject or highlighting areas as your needs require. The Halo-bar has a daylight-balanced 5700K color temperature and its light intensity is adjustable with the Foldio3's dimming controller. The Halo-bar can be used only with the Foldio3's 100 to 240 VAC power adapter.

    The product comes out of the box and is easily assembled in less than 5 minutes. The adjustable lighting can be dimmed from low to very bright and the white backdrop works well. The black backdrop, however, is useless. The fabric picks up any tiny bit of lint or dirt particle and is absolutely impossible to clean. Otherwise, the product works as advertised.

    great for what its advertised to do. Very well designed, and it stores away pretty compact. No mechanical parts to break and the back drops really work nice. I added the 2 extra led lights which I would highly recommend.

    I've been selling on eBay, and love the photos i get with the Foldio. I bought the additional halo bars. Best thing is I can fold it all away when I'm done for the session. I haven't experimented with my SLR yet, but for my immediate purposes I'm very pleased.

    After Googling light boxes and checking the Top Ten lists, all of which led to Amazon and seemed bogus to me. We have a Shopify online store, so I asked their support team for recommendations, but received none. I decided to take a different approach and search well-known photography equipment sites, which is what brought me to B&H. I received excellent support from Kirk on a chat, during which I asked him every question I could think of about several light boxes and finally decided on this one. Ironically, while I was writing up this proposal for my supervisor's approval, I happened upon a blog about a Shopify product photo class in LA, where the teacher recommended Foldio3! It is also pictured in their Guide to Product Photography, so this further solidified my choice. The Foldio3 is everything I was led to believe it was and ridiculously easy to use. We got the movable Halo lights, which add options for more light coming from a choice of several different locations and angles. Set-up was easy and operation fairly simple, with dimmers for both stationery lights and Halo, and the option to position it on its back for shooting from the top. The white and black backgrounds allow for seamless, almost completely shadowless shots, with little post-production work necessary. I am a beginner product photographer working with an iPhone 7+. Other than the usual props, the only other piece of equipment I found absolutely necessary was a good tripod. Having spent endless hours struggling with flawed backgrounds and Photoshop fixes, this light box is a dream come true! I can't wait to replace all the product photos in our online store with the infinitely more professional and uniform look of those taken using the Foldio3!

    Enjoying this kit so far. Very easy to set up with the magnets, and the lighting is great. I would probably be a little disappointed without the halo bars providing some adjustable front light, so I'd consider them a must. The components are very lightweight, which makes them feel a little chintzy but I think it helps the magnets hold the lights up more easily. We have mostly used it to photograph cakes and it's great that the opening is so big, making it easy to get them in and out. Overall we are very happy with the investment and think we'll get a lot of use out of it.

    A great value for the price. Lighting is very good though the options with the main lights do not allow for individual control for each of the three individually. Would like to see more backdrops to select from.
