This 8 x 8' Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Seamless Full-Stop Diffusion Fabric won't affect the color of the light it is diffusing and only cuts the light by one stop. This is a single piece of fabric that does not have any seams that could cause uneven diffusion or shadows in the diffusing area. For use with a 8 x 8' Scrim Jim Cine Frame (not included), it is large enough to diffuse direct sunlight, or large studio lights. A heavy-duty touch fastener lines this fabric, allowing for quick and secure placement on your Scrim Jim Cine Frame.

how does this connect to the frame?

The frame has velcro along its edges that stick to velcro along the edges of the diffuser. it is very secure.

If I have the 8X8 frames- can I use this to build a 4X4 diffuser? I know there have been issues with diffuser sizes matching frame sizes. Wondered if anyone had done this?

This Westcott Scrim Jim Cine fabric only works on the current Scrim Jim Cine frames.

Can the fabric be washed normally?

I have not washed it, however, it seems like it could be washed on a gentle cycle or by hand but I would not put it in a dryer with high heat just to be safe. It should air dry quite well.

Yes, search for Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Diffuser Fabric 4 x 4', or Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Full-Stop Diffuser Fabric 4 x 4 if you want to be more specific. The scrims have Velcro attachment.

Is this portable?

Yes. The diffuser fabric is attached to the frame with Velcro and can be removed. The frame can be taken apart at the corners. The frame is four straight pieces and four corner 90 degree connecters
