Think Tank Photo Retrospective 30 V2.0 Reviews

Good size for travel work

I’ve really liked using the Think Tank 30 for travel. It hits a sweet spot where it’s big enough for my mirrorless setup and drone, but still small enough to actually want to carry around all day. I recently used it on a fly-in photography trip to the Caribbean, and it was about perfect for that kind of travel. It fit under the airline seat with my laptop, then worked just as well as a day bag once I got there, whether tossing it in the car or taking it on shorter hikes. I also have a smaller one which is nice for other purposes. This one did encourage me to perhaps carry a bit too much gear. On bigger trails, I definitely noticed that. Overall, a really solid travel bag. Big enough to be useful, small enough to stay convenient.

Bigger, but still the best!

I had the Retrospective 7 V2.0 for about four years when I purchased a Nikon Z8 to add to the bag (along with my Z7). I have found that carrying both cameras, with mounted 24-120 and 14-30 lenses and accessories to be a little tight so I purchased the larger Retrospective 30 bag. It's a great bag having all the features of the smaller bag, yet big enough for my needs. I still use the smaller Retrospective 7 V2.0 bag when I use one camera and need to travel lightly.

I already know this bag will hold my Nikon D850 with a 24-70 and a 14-24. But, is there room for 150x150 ND filters along with the filter holder that the Nikon 14-24 requires? I keep my 150x150 filters in a think pouch.

Will the Nikon Z9 fit with the Nikkor Z 24-70mm ...

Will the Nikon Z9 fit with the Nikkor Z 24-70mm F2.8 attached, Nikkor Z 70-200MM F2.8 (unattached), and the Nikkor Z 14-24MM F2.8 (unattached) along with other accessories?
Asked by: Gregory
Yes, the Think Tank Photo Retrospective 30 V2.0 Shoulder Bag is large enough to hold the Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Camera with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S Lens attached. There would still be space for a detached Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens, Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens, and a few other small accessories.

Would this hold a Canon 500mm f/4 II lens with the hood?
Asked by: Kenneth
The Think Tank Photo Retrospective 30 V2.0 Shoulder Bag (Pinestone) would be a bit to small for the Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM Lens. The lens is just slightly longer and wider than the camera compartment of this bag. One may be able to squeeze it in, but it would be a very tight fit.
