The camera skin went on the camera easily. Definitely seems to add a layer of protection. The only downside is that some of my other accessories won’t fit on the bottom screw mount due to added thickness. That’s the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.

I have the Really Right Stuff L bracket (it also replaces the battery compartment hinge/cover). Will this work or will I need to trim the silicone to fit?

Unfortunately, this case will not allow an L-bracket to fit. If you have a base plate only, that would need to be fitted to the camera after the silicone case is installed.

The D850 has illuminated buttons, are these still visible if activated or does the silicon skin obscure them completely?

The buttons are covered by the skin. They are raised so that you can still feel them and though they have icons noting their functions, they would require externally generated illumination to see them.
