It would depend on the filter thread size of your lens, as there are multiple 28-80mm lenses. Without knowing the filter thread size of your specific lens, the best I can state is most of Nikon's older 28-80mm autofocus zoom lenses use 58mm filter threads, so the Nikon 58mm Snap-On Lens Cap may work if you own one of the Nikon 28-80mm lenses.

I believe for the Nikkor 18-55 zooms you need the 52mm cap. Check the front of the lens, you should see a 52 there indicating it takes 52mm caps/filters.
