Hoya B-62RM72-GB overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 62mm R72 Infrared Filter is a specialized filter used for infrared photography with digital cameras and specialized infrared film. This nearly opaque filter blocks all visible light up to 720nm, enabling recording of subject matter and scenes that are not visible under normal conditions. Due to the nature of infrared photography, the filter factor for this filter is highly variable and depends largely on the ISO sensitivity in use and lighting conditions.

This filter is constructed from high-quality optical glass and is set in an aluminum filter ring to provide increased rigidity and prevention from filter jamming.

Used for infrared photography applications with digital cameras and specialized IR film.
Blocks all visible light up to 720nm for photographing subjects and details that are not normally visible.
Variable filter factor depending on ISO sensitivity and lighting conditions.
Can be paired with colored black and white contrast filters to change the colored or contrast effects with this filter.

    Hoya B-62RM72-GB reviews

    62mm R72 Infrared Filter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great alternative to a converted IR DSLR If you don't mind the extended exposure and hassle of framing the shot first then attaching the IR, then this is a great way of getting that IR effect without having to convert a DSLF full-time. An inexpensive way to get IR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs As Advertised It does exactly what a 720nm IR filter is suppposed to do, at a reasonable price. It's also durable. This dummy dropped it while trying to screw it onto the lens - y'all know how that can happen if you're not carefule. It hit concrete from about five feet and the only damage is barely noticeable scratches where it hit. Still works perfectly. Don't try it though, I'm a lucky dummy, your mileage may vary.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from avoid after several days of testing..this filter is just not good for my nikon d800, the results are sub par and i am getting serious color banding and hotspots in the center of my frames..I own 2 cameras that have had sensor conversion and these work really well.. unless you plan on using this hoya r72 filter on an older model camera ..consider converting the camera before throwing away hard earned money..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfactory Filter for IR enthusiasts I have never been let down by Hoya. This is a nice piece of glass for the price, and produces usable ir images in the 720nm wavelength. I am using this on a Sony Alpha 18-135 lens with a Sony a to e mount adapter on a NEX-7 diy converted to full spectrum with no internal fixed filter. With the Hoya filter mounted I still have AF control, and no visible hot spots. Completly satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect item for my use! Got this to use on the Fuji WCL-70 wide angle converter lens on my Fuji X100 that was converted for full-spectrum infrared. It works well for black and white infrared images, and I do not detect any image hot spots. I also have a 49mm Hoya R72 to use when not using the wide angle converter, and the image characteristics look consistent with the 62mm filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The IR filter After trying the Polaroid IR720 filter, which is not actually infrared filter, finally I have something that works amazingly. Interestingly I can focus even with the filter on with my Pentax K3 using the live view with guided focus lines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best buy! First time using IR.. I bought this filter because it was highly recommended. I'm very satified with it! I love the images I've shot with this filter.. so beautiful and sharp.
