The Hoya 52mm Neutral Density (NDX4) 0.6 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Neutral Density filters have four main uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Neutral Density Factors

2x = ND.3 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)
4x = ND.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)
8x = ND.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)
As one of the premier filter manufacturers, Hoya filters continue to made from quality glass assuring the photographer clear, sharp and accurate images
Hoya filters consistently provide even color all the way through the filter; All surfaces are ground and polished to specific thickness and tolerances

52mm Neutral Density (NDX4) 0.6 Filter is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from stick with the non-coated filter i bought this product because i like to shoot predominantly at low apertures (love that bokeh), so i figured a neutral density filter would work well for daytime shooting. the extra coating on the lens is not very fun to clean--it smudges EVERYWHERE and advises only to use a soft cotton cloth to clean. sometimes i have some stuff on my lens and i need to get it off ASAP, so i don't have the ability to get a cotton cloth. case in point: stick with the non-coated version of this filter--it does the same job (i'm very happy with mine), without the headache.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for Drop In's Wanted to try an ND in my 200-400 f/4 to battle harsh sun on bright days- was concerned about it being slim enough to fit in my drop in holder and figured for $20, it was worth a try. Worked great. Very pleased

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter I use this product when I'm outdoors and looking to shoot at a low shutter speed and fstop. This product works great. I'm a big fan of Hoya filters. Great products at a good price. Easy to use, great quality. Makes it a must have for beginner to pro.
