The Hoya 77mm Neutral Density (NDX4) 0.6 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Neutral Density filters have four main uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Neutral Density Factors

2x = ND.3 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)
4x = ND.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)
8x = ND.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)
As one of the premier filter manufacturers, Hoya filters continue to be made from quality glass assuring the photographer clear, sharp and accurate images
Hoya filters consistently provide even color all the way through the filter; All surfaces are ground and polished to specific thickness and tolerances

    77mm Neutral Density (NDX4) 0.6 Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 22.
    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ND Filter IF you are filming in HDSLR and want to film lots of outdoor shots but want to be at an aperture of 2.8 or less, this is the filter to get. Why? When you use an aperture of 2.8 too much light is going into the camera thus destroying your image. Having this filter will help your camera film at aperture 2.8 without having your video footage look washed out.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent ND Filter I used this product on a recent trip to Maui and was able to successfully capture the landscape, sunrise/sunset, and waterfall shots I was hoping for with rich color and slower shutter speeds. Very easy filter to put on/take off and yields excellent results. A great product for the price.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the trouble When you're willing to get out the tripod and fiddle around with filters, a neutral density filter is well worth the trouble. I use it to achieve very slow shutter speeds when photographing scenes with water. This particular one is of excellent quality.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect in bright light. If you like to use a flash outdoors with your lens wide open for Bokeh sometimes you can't shoot a fast enough shutter speed to sync with your flash, your only option is using a filter like this... great quality and the price is right.
