The Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp is made of lightweight cast alloy.  The Super Clamp is a very versatile tool and it holds just about anything: cameras, lights, umbrellas, hooks, shelves, plate glass, cross bars, even other Super Clamps.

Manfrotto Super Clamp Overview

The Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp is made of lightweight cast alloy.  The Super Clamp is a very versatile tool and it holds just about anything: cameras, lights, umbrellas, hooks, shelves, plate glass, cross bars, even other Super Clamps.

The Super Clamp can be securely mounted on any tube from 0.5" to 2.1" and is supplied with a unique wedge insert for clamping onto flat surfaces. A built-in socket allows the use of over 30 attachments to hold anything from backgrounds to lighting fixtures.

The Standard Stud (2908/03614) is included. This item replaces old catalog #2900.

Very sturdy. Going to DYI build a copy stand for macro photography. This clamp will hold the camera vertically and clamp to the pole. The super clamp will get me close vertically. I'll mount a focusing rail to the super clamp and then the camera on that for fine vertical adjustment. Should work well!

Excellent clamp. I own two and both do a great job of holding things in place even in a middle school classroom with all the kids trying to screw around with it. No one has loosened it do date. Worth the purchase.

I've been on the fence with purchasing a salon/tower camera stand. This super clamp, when paired with my manofrotto monopod, gives me an opportunity to work on overhead shots in a similar manner with a nano-fraction of the cost. I think my only comment to prospective buyers is that the screw attachment seems to slip a little--not much, but enough that I continually recheck for sturdiness and movement. Again, minor issue that does not affect my product work!

I bought the Super Clamp to use with a copy stand for DSLR scanning. It does that very well, but it also makes a great table clamp, light stand clamp, tree branch clamp, and a host of other things!

Fit and finish is a bit rough, but expected in this price range. Always find myself wishing there was a way to have fine-control of the rotation values on the stud, but that's just a design idea for a different product. Haven't had any problems with adjustments or slippage.

If the jaws open wide enough, it may be able to attach it. How securely is another thing. Maybe if you hang something light. I use mine on auto poles which are round & clamp attaches securely enough to hang a flash head. Best of luck.

if you purchase the Impact Short Double Female Stud for Super Clamps with 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 Threads, B&H # IMSRP103, you should be able to connect the Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp with Standard Stud to the 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 male thread on the top of your tripod head.

This evidently is not a true ratchet like a socket wrench ratchet. But does it have the ability to have the handle pulled out, re-positioned, and then back in to a tightening mode?

no you will need enough clearance for the handle to turn about a 6in circle.

Is this the correct stud to attach a standard tripod head (such as the 494RC2)? If not what stud should I order please?

The stud included with this Super Clamp would not have the correct screw thread to fit a 494 RC2. What is best to use is the Manfrotto 208HEX Head Mounting Plate with Hex Stud - 3/8 Thread B&H # MA208HEX which connects into the hex slot on the Super Clamp and has a tripod base plate on top with a 3/8 thread for attaching a head like the 494RC2. Please see the image below for reference.

is the main handle on this made out of metal or plastic, along with the interior threads? I've had versions that were plastic and the threads strip out rendering the clamp useless.

The handle is plastic. Hardened plastic, the interior threads are not plastic.

Manfrotto has 4 versions of the Super Clamp with the Ratchet handle. The only differences are if the stud is included or not, & what particular stud. This 035RL Super Clamp includes a Standard Stud.

The super clamp is a B&H "recommended accessory" for the friction arm. The friction arm has a piece that looks like it fits into the super clamp. The super clamp is meant to fit with about 20 or 30 items.
