Hoya A-49CRPLHRT overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 49mm HRT Circular-Polarizer UV Filter is designed to block ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight while also helping to eliminate reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A filter with polarizing capability arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is non-coated and offers approximately 98% average light transmission due to its High-Rate Transparency polarizing film. It is constructed from optical glass and precision milled aluminum frames.

Blocks UV light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.
Non-coated.
High-Rate Transparency polarizing film helps provide approximately 98% average light transmission.
2.5 to 2.8x filter factor reduces exposure by 1.3 to 1.5 stops.
Constructed from optical glass and precision milled aluminum frames.
Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

    Hoya A-49CRPLHRT reviews

49mm HRT Circular-Polarizer UV Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from What a wowsa of polarizing in the circle I recently purchased a 49 mm HRT Circular Polarizing Filter and I must admit that it was unique in its design. The Transmission Rate was the highest that I and the group had ever measured, in some cases over 100 %, which surprised us all. We were actually able to see visible light coming through, no matter how much we were turning the filter this way and that--mostly that. I would recommend this filter to anyone who has never had the joys of a circular filter, and I would also recommend it to anyone looking for a good transmission. And oh boy, was the mount firm. Ron

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for image manipulation and macro Aside from the obvious use to darken the sky as background for dramatic clouds, I've found a polarizer quite handy for creative naturally lit closeups. Like all Hoya filters, this one is about as optically perfect as an amateur might afford, threads easily on and off the lens, and comes in a handy case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value This filter has tremendous value for the money. Great polarization, and excellent build quality are prevalent in this filter. The one issue (admittedly minor) is that I use this for a rangefinder which requires me to remove the filter and figure out the best angle for polarization, then reinstall at the proper angle. This filter only has one indexing mark on the filter ring, requiring some gymnastic ability if using this with a rangefinder. Otherwise, this is a great $ filter!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a Charm B&H, as always, gives good, understandable, common sense advice, so I purchased this polarizer. It arrived in 2 days, screwed it on and voila, it works as advertised. I installed it onto my longer lens which I will use exclusively outdoors. As a result, this filter will be permanently installed and also be used to protect the lens, in lieu of a UV filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I tried it for the first time the other day with some unusual cloud patterns and it worked great. Not to loose or to tight when turning.
