The Hoya 62mm HRT Circular-Polarizer UV Filter is designed to block ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight while also helping to eliminate reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A filter with polarizing capability arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is non-coated and offers approximately 98% average light transmission due to its High-Rate Transparency polarizing film. It is constructed from optical glass and precision milled aluminum frames.

Blocks UV light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.
Non-coated.
High-Rate Transparency polarizing film helps provide approximately 98% average light transmission.
2.5 to 2.8x filter factor reduces exposure by 1.3 to 1.5 stops.
Constructed from optical glass and precision milled aluminum frames.
Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

62mm HRT Circular-Polarizer UV Filter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoya - high quality This circular polarized filter is excellent, rotating bezel allows for adjusting the effect of the filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Polarizing filter choices There are many choices for a CPL filter and i opted for the HRT believing it would be a little brighter than some polarizing filters. I used it extensively on a recnt trip and the filter did not vignette on a 12mm MFT lens (24mm equivalent). I needed to use an elastic band to provide enough grip to remove the filter; i just left it on the filter while in the case so that it was always handy, leaving it in teh case while the filter was on teh lens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It is an okay, bulky lens. I expected an excellent product from Hoya but getting this HRT Polarizing Filter is not a good idea. I used this for landscape photography, outdoors, and portraiture. It is not as good as the H1 Hoya filters that I used to own. This one is thick and doesn't have the polarizing capabilities that I've been looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good natural look I've had some polarizing filters I just didn't like the effects, too strong or too cold. This does the job and has a natural look to it also. If using wide angle, don't blame the filter if there is a sky gradient, they'll all do it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrific price and value! Will assist in challenging reflection uses!
