Tiffen Black Pro-Mist Filter (67mm, Grade 1/4)
Key Features
  • Controlled Highlight Flare
  • High-Quality Optical Glass
  • Black Adonized Aluminum Material
  • Lowers Contrast
The 1/4-grade, 67mm Tiffen Black Pro-Mist Filter helps to reduce the value of the highlights while slightly lowering the overall contrast. This filter is especially useful for smoothing out and softening facial wrinkles and other blemishes. While designed for use with movies, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft focus filter, Pro-Mist filters provide little loss of detail across the image. The 1/4 density provides more contrast and highlight reduction than the 1/8, but less than the 1/2, while still allowing for a soft, pastel-like quality of light.

Tiffen Black Pro-Mist Reviews

Dropped my camera, it saved my camera lens

I did not buy it for this reason, but it did save my camera lens. I bought this a few days before a big photoshoot to help make my images softer and less clinical after switching to mirrorless. When i dropped the camera (which i never do), the lens was saved but my filter was shattered. Do i wish the filter was strong enough to enure that fall as well.... yes. $200 isnt a small purchase. In camera world it kinda is. Very glad I got it.

A subtle and delightful filter. Top quality image production filter for cameras and video. I really prefer the 1/8 on all my camera shots. giving them a more natural detailed film look, especially fantastic with the glow on night shots. I would definitely recommend to buy this filter from B&H.

Does this also act as an ND? or can I just expose as I would?
Asked by: Daniel
This is a type of soft filter but in a way is somewhat of an ND in that it cuts out about 1 stop of light.

I received mine and it comes with multiple specks on the filter itself, almost looks dirty. I'm wondering if this is who it's supposed to be?
Asked by: Fabian
Yes the dots on the filter is what softens the image and makes the highlights bloom. Those dots are a normal part of the filter.

Can I mount the 67mm on top of my TCL x100ii teleconverter lens? If not, what size of promist filter should I get for my fuji x100f?
Asked by: MJ
We do not find any specifications for the TCL x100ii lens on the B&H website, perhaps you can contact Fuji directly for the filter thread specifications? The filter specifications for the Fuji x100f on the B&H website state 49mm with adapter.
