Vello RS-N2II overview

  • 1Description

Whether you are shooting in the studio or outdoors, the Vello RS-N2II Wired Remote Switch provides photographers using select Nikon cameras with a DC-2 connection with a simple way to control exposures and an easy-to-use tool to create more "keepers". The device is larger and more comfortable to use than many other remote devices, with a thick, sturdy cord.

The RS-N2II is compatible with autofocusing, continuous shooting or single image capture, and long exposures. It will autofocus on a half press of the button and trigger the shutter with a full press. Also, users can press the button and slide it forward to lock it for long exposures. Since you can trigger exposures without touching the camera, you will capture sharp, blur-free images. Additionally, the unit does not require batteries as it draws its power from the camera, making it an extremely useful tool to keep in your studio or gear bag.

    Vello RS-N2II reviews

RS-N2II Wired Remote Switch for Select Nikon DC-2 Cameras is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 284.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not quite sure what to say This is the third Vello wired remote that B&H has sent to me. The first one I bought and the second two were shipped no charge. Now today I sent my D7000 back because we feel that maybe the camera is defective. The first two times I used the remote it worked flawlessly. Now all three units when connected will focus but will not actuate the shutter. I have to believe that something has become disconnected in the camera. That being said I will still rate this remote highly. It certainly seems sturdy enough and I am sure it will do what it is supposed to do once I get my new camera. If not I will re-review this remote.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made My Life So much Easier Love getting outside and taking pictures of the dawn, sunrise and sunset. This requires using a sturdy tripod and no vibrations. I was using the 2 sec timer function to trigger the shutter but that got very tedious. Besides I'm often shooting out in the cold weather so either my hands freeze or I get tired of slipping the gloves on and off. This worked like a charm. The cord was long enough to fit in my jacket pocket while allowing me plenty of room to maneuver behind my camera. Be able to press the shutter halfway to lock up the mirror also improved the sharpness of my images. Be careful though you can easily accidentally lock the button into bulb mode and miss a shot or two until you figure out you did it. Can't beat the price either!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good I put some clear silicone where the cord exists the plug. There is stress placed here because all the weight hangs, w/ a 90 degree bend in it, after the plug. It's a design flaw; the cable should hang straight down without any bend. I have a Nikon MCDC2 Remote Wired Release that I paid $30 for 5 years ago, with the same design flaw. The rubber cable finally broke where the 90 degree bend is. Apparently all the wires are intact because it still works. I used clear silicone as a band-aid. I bought the new one as a backup and the price was great $7.95. I tested it after it came and it works fine. Then I added the clear silicone; it will live in my camera bag until the Nikon cable breaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME COMPANY MORE THEN EXPECTED I recently ordered a wired shutter release switch for my Nikon photo equipment. I have had the gear for a little over a year but was unable to locate this item for a reasonable fee. After locating the item on B&H I was amazed to find the price perfect for my budget total including S&H, the product if purchased from a local store (intentionally left blank) I would have paid more, I was very satisfied with the purchase and the professional manner in which I was treated. Most definitely will continue shopping g with B&H and will highly recommend my friends and colleagues check the site out.Tom

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just perfect The shipment was on time, the remote was simple to use on my Nikon D7000 and cost me much less than the Nikon version. I have been using the Nikon wireless remote so far and found it was not half as reliable as this wired release. I would strongly recommend this for shooting nature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would by this product again On a tripod when extended shutter time is required. It is a well made device as are other Vello products that I now use. No problem attaching it to my Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera. The controls work as they should. No complaints operating the wired remote switch. In fact I find it easier to use then the non wired type. The non wired switch requires you to be in specified positions in order to have to switch to activate the timed shutter release Under certain field conditions this might not be possible in confined area. You would be lucky to get your tripod set up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Great I really can't complain for the price. It works well. My only complaint is that is slides into the bulb setting way too easy when pushing the button. Not a big deal and easy to learn to avoid but I wish that was just bit tighter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ridiculously simple After buying a battery operated timer only to have it torn out when my daughter grabbed my camera, I realized I could go with this inexpensive remote and an app on my phone. Yes, you have to trigger and intriguer it manually when doing exposures longer than 30 seconds, but a fraction of a second at those times is nothing. Appears well made. Easy to grip. Big enough to hold comfortably. And as long as my phone battery hasn't died then I don't have to worry about batteries dying in this since there aren't any. 4 stars because I wish the cord was longer.
