Vello RS-C1II Overview

Whether shooting in the studio or outdoors, the Vello RS-C1II Wired Remote Switch provides photographers using select cameras featuring a 2.5mm connection with a simple way to control exposures and an easy-to-use tool to create more "keepers". The device is larger and more comfortable to use than many other remote devices, with a thick, sturdy cord.

The RS-C1II is compatible with autofocusing, continuous shooting or single image capture, and long exposures. It will autofocus on a half press of the button and trigger the shutter with a full press. Also, users can press the button and slide it forward to lock it for long exposures. It can be used with cameras that feature live-view mode. Since exposures can be triggered without touching the camera, sharp, blur-free images can be captured. The RS-C1II does not require batteries as operates using the cameras own power, making it an extremely useful tool to keep in a studio or gear bag.

It's short but I have a 90d so if I need to be further I can just use my iPhone. $9 or whatever it is, it's worth it if you plan on standing right behind the camera. Get a wireless or longer cable remote if you want something with more reach.

Works well with Olympus.

Works well, I do wish the button had better feedback but its easy to get used to. Great for long exposures or when you dont want to touch your camera.

This unit was inexpensive and does the job. After pressing the shutter release button, you can slide it forward and it locks so that you can use it on bulb for long exposures without having to hold it down the whole time.

out of the box - into the camera port and no issue whatsoever -- worked right away - and reasonably priced

Feels a bit flimsy, but for the price who cares. A little larger than the Canon one I used to have. Also the cable and input thing seem larger too. I haven't used it more than maybe once yet for actually taking a photo, but I am sure it'll do that fine.

Will this work with Pentax K-70?
Asked by: Luis
No, the K70 takes a 3.5mm plug. You can use the Pentax CS310 switch or the Vello remote with 3.5mm.

question

Does this work with the Panasonic GH4?
Asked by: Anonymous
I can't give a solid answer. I have a couple of Fuji X Mount cameras. The plug on this remote is designed to work with Canon cameras. It does work perfectly with my Fuji.===The functional protocols for remote shutter releases are pretty straightforward. If your camera has the appropriate size socket for a wired shutter control, this should work.

Unfortunately the Canon EOS M50 Camera requires a Bluetooth remote and does not have a shutter release terminal.

question

Can you recommend an extension cable that will allow me to use it further from the camera?
Asked by: Anonymous
I went to the B&H store and talked to a professional in person about this and he suggested a LANC extension cable that works perfectly. I use the Vello RS-C1II + a 12-foot ProAm USA LANC Remote Extension Cable (purchased from B&H) on both my Canon EOS 70D and my EOS Rebel XS (which I use to operate a photo booth). On the EOS Rebel XS, it does not require changing any camera settings. Simply plus the LANC extension into the remote port on the side of the camera. connect the Vello corded remote, and it will act as the shutter release when pressed. On the 70D, I have to change the settings to remote trigger in order of the setup to work.
