Freehands 11121LS overview

  • 1Description

This pair of small black Women's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves from Freehands are designed to be used when photographing outdoors in cold weather. The gloves have a waterproof and windproof backing and are lined with Thinsulate to keep you warm in the winter while being lightweight enough to wear in milder weather.

When photographing in cold weather you can open the finger tips so that you can more easily access small buttons on your camera, which might be difficult to access if you were wearing normal gloves. When you need to access buttons on your camera, simply pull back the thumb and forefinger tips of the gloves to reveal your fingers. The tips are secured in place by magnets until you are ready to cover your fingers again. The palm patch features a silicon grip to prevent your camera from slipping. The gloves are designed to fit snugly so you can hold and operate your camera easily. For a looser fit, order the next size up.

Women's Stretch Thinsulate Gloves (Small, Black) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Waterproof Despite being called waterproof twice in the information (not water resistant), these gloves do little to protect against rain. I bought them for a trip to the Pribilofs, a very wet place with cool temperatures, and when I wore them on a lightly rainy day, they ended up soaked, despite being brand new. I suspect these are only water resistant, if even that. From the other info provided, I also suspect they are meant to protect against snow not rain. I woul request that the manufacturer correct their information to prevent false advertising. If you do buy these, I found them a little small. They were not warm but the size may have constricted circulation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good. Fit is great. I have a VERY petite hand, about 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 inches from my wrist bone to the tip of my middle finger. If your hand is any bigger, size small will be too small for you. Maybe not the warmest gloves I've ever had, but OK. I can still wear a pair of fingerless knit gloves that I already own underneath these. I think these will work well for my needs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy A male photographer friend of mine recommended these gloves highly. He said even in the cold of New England, and shooting in caves, his finger stayed warm with these gloves. He also said convenience of the easily to remove forefinger and thumb tips worked great, and was a must to have in my camera gear for winter shoots. Well, the gloves for men may be made that well, but the pair I bought for women did not work at all. I wore them this past week during the blizzard that hit the east coast, and all my fingertips froze. What a disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would recommend these to a friend These gloves are really great for using while texting or using a camera. The forefinger and the thumb open up so you can use your touch screen phone and it is really nice to be able to do that while using a camera or playing with the radio in the car. So many great things to do while still keeping you glove on your hand. One negative thing I have about these gloves are that the thumb hole is a little too big so cold air gets into them but other then that they are great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good but need better waterproofing I photograph in very cold, sometimes wet conditions. Usually my cold hands are what make me have to cut the session short. With these gloves, I found I could stay out much longer. They allow great dexterity--I can use any camera functions, change lenses, adjust tripod, etc. with them on. The close fit of the women's small is great for my small hands. My only complaint is the waterproofing didn't seem adequate--the gloves felt damp inside after an hour or so.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from size up These run small and even for small hands like mine, I think I may end up needing a medium and I never take mediums. Usually the smalls are plenty roomy. I did a trial run this past weekend and while my left hand stayed warm, my right hand, especially my forefinger, remained cold. I think it was only because the glove is a tad too small on my right hand. BUT I still love them for what they do....allow photographers to keep shooting in cold conditions without needing to take their gloves off. I do recommend provided you can find the right size.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good idea... Just not right for me. I own a dog daycare so I shoot outside a lot. Taking gloves off to change camera settings isn't always a great idea - especially if you have an exuberant pup that likes to steal things, such as gloves. I liked the concept but found they were not right for me. The finger flaps are tricky to put back on if you're wearing the other glove. I had to take one off so I could close the finger flaps on the opposite glove, which totally defeated the purpose. For me, when it's bitter cold outside, taking a mitten or glove off for even less than a minute leaves my fingers cold and stiff and these gloves didn't have the kind of insulation to recover well once I put them back on. Also, one of the magnets was aligned just right with my knuckle so when I bent my finger, it was quite uncomfortable. Maybe that wouldn't have been an issue if I gave them time to break in but I did end up returning them and went back to using my stretchy knit gloves that don't need to come off when changing camera settings. Like some of the other reviewers, I have small hands and was surprised to find they were tighter than I would have liked them to be, so ordering one size up is probably a good idea.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great gear for winter shooting Ordered these gloves to keep my hands protected and warm during winter photography outings. The finger and thumb holes make it easy to adjust camera controls without having to take gloves on and off. They do fit snug. I have very small hands and ordered the small but if I were to get a second pair I might consider ordering up a size.
