ZEISS 1933-983 overview

  • 1Description

The 52mm Carl ZEISS T* UV Filter from ZEISS is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. No additional coloration or contrast effects are provided, rendering a clean and natural appearance.

A UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

The T* anti-reflective coating helps to reduce reflections on the filter's surface and promote a better light transmission for high quality imagery. The filter ring is designed with a slim profile to allow its use on wide angle lenses, but front filter threads are still available for the use of additional filters.

    ZEISS 1933-983 reviews

52mm Carl ZEISS T* UV Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best I use Zeiss UV filters on all of my lenses. It goes on as soon as the lens comes out of the box and rarely comes off, only to use other filters. I feel much better about cleaning this all the time than the element of the lens itself (especially on a $1300 Batis). I also like the actual protection that it offers the front element as opposed to the protection of the lens hood that some people claim. No, there is no loss of quality or additional glare by anyone's standards. I do not agree with the camp that says that you should not use UV filters for protection because of a loss in quality. I believe that this might be true of cheap filters, but certainly not these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built and works as required. Modern digital cameras do not need UV filters. But, I bought this filter to protect the front end of my Fujifilm X-Mount Carl Zeiss 1.8/32 lens. I normally use a B+W clear protection or UV filter but decided to get the Zeiss UV filter because it has the same T* coating as my lens does and that means a match between the coatings. You can tell this is a high quality product from the moment you open the box. In fact, even the storage box is better than what most competitors offer. I carefully cleaned the front of my Zeiss lens and then easily screwed the filter on and it will remain there as if it is part of the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 52mm Carl Zeiss T UV Filter by Zeiss Perfect fit and finish. I am sure it will to a great job of protecting the front lens element on my Carl Zeiss Touit lens. It is very clear and I cannot distinguish any difference in clarity between using the filter and not. Which is exactly why, I chose the Zeiss filter for the Zeiss lens. I chose to put a filter on this lens mainly because I will often be using it without the large lens hood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zeiss Magic T* Coating I purchased this UV filter to go along with a new Zeiss lens. The first time I traveled with the new lens, I removed the filter to clean it due to inclement weather. Although I used a professional lens-cleaning cloth, there may have been particles in the air as the filter seemed to get scratched when I cleaned it. I took the filter to a pro camera store and they confirmed that it was scratched. However, when I returned home and unpacked the filter, it was scratch-free. This sounds improbable, but perhaps this occurred because of the Zeiss T* coating, the same that they use on their lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No-brainer Best quality filter. Great flare control. If you're spending $$ on the 32mm Touit, why skimp on the filter? The T* Zeiss lens will be so lonely without it. Beautiful packaging, beautiful filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from allows use of Zeiss lens hood This filter is beautifully made and seems optically excellent. No surprise, and these characteristics are shared with other top quality filters. What for me justifies the annoyingly high price is that this filter is sized to perfectly match the Zeiss lens barrel (at least for the Zeiss 35mm f/2). This means that the Zeiss hood goes on and off over the filter with no problem; reviews of other top filters often note that they are a little too large for the hood to pass over. This of course matters only if you are planning to use it on a Zeiss lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of its kind!! Ultra clear. Filters unwanted light waves. Adds contrast to sun washed scenes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Protection This is a well-made glass filter. I purchased this to protect a macro lens because getting very close to your subject sometimes endangers the front lens element. I'd much rather replace a filter than a lens, so the filter is a must for me. The filter is high-quality and does exactly what it is supposed to do - protect my lens without altering my picture.
