This Cavision 77-82mm Step-Up Ring enables the use of 82mm threaded filters on lenses with 77mm filter threads. The 6mm depth enables this ring to fill the gap between the lens and the back of select rod-mounted matte boxes, helping to keep reflections from hitting your lens. The step-up ring has an 85mm outside diameter for use with clip-on matte boxes. It features a lightweight aluminum alloy construction with a black anodized finish.

question
Hi B&H,My questions is, will this step up ring allow me to use my Hoya, slim 82mm circular polarising filter on the front of my Canon 70-200mm mark 2 lens?RegardsCraig
Yes, this step up ring will allow you to use an 82mm threaded filter with a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 II lens, however you don't necessarily need to use this step up ring that has been optimized for matte boxes. You can also use a slimmer step up ring, such as the following made by Sensei: http://bhpho.to/1vtTgcP

question
Is this threaded on both the 77mm side and 82mm side or is it made to slip on to the 77mm side?
This is a Step-Up Ring adapter. It will connect to lenses with a 77mm filter thread and allow you to use filters with an 82mm threading. The side that connects to the lens will be 77mm and the side that connects to the filter will be 82mm.

Does the 82mm work with the MF-R76 Macro Ring Flash with my 24-79 canon lens?
To use the Godox MF-R76 Macro Ring Flash on a lens with 82mm filter threads you would need this Sensei 82-77mm Step-Down Ring. https://bhpho.to/3F8VzNR
