    Auray EPD-MDR7506 Reviews

Deluxe Velour Earpads (Pair) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 231.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from They change the sound of the MDR-7506's They are incredibly comfy and a marked comfort improvement to the Sony MDR-7506's. That is where my two stars come from. Now the bad news...they CHANGE THE SONIC SIGNATURE OF THE HEADPHONES. Maybe it's because the foam is ever so slightly thicker causing the drivers to be ever so slightly further away from your ear openings, but you will hear a marked reduction in bass and a marked addition of high-end when compared to how they sound with the stock pads. It's a shame. Now I'm going to have to find a suitable replacement for my (un)suitable replacement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not exactly as Earpads are as described with one small exception. The same material that is used on the original ones is still on the Deluxe ones. There is still a very small amount of this Faux leather material that goes all the way around the earpad and connects the cloth material to the rubber material that connects the earpads to the headphones. I am still happy with my purchase, hence the 4 stars, but to get the 5 stars I would have liked to see a total elimination of the this awful material that literally disintegrated on the original pair of earpads. I could have purchased 2 sets of the original earpads for the same price as these, so if they last for two sets worth then I will be happy. Hope this helps, and that I win $250 for typing this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable! Perfect replacement earpads for the Audio Technica ATH-M30. More comfortable than the original pads. Read some reviews saying how hard they were to install, but I found they were not all that difficult to install. Just start the pad into the top part of the slot at the top and keep it in place with a firm finger, then gradually alternate putting the earpad in the right and left side parts of the slot, and finally, while holding what you have already put in the slot on the top and both sides, pull the last part (bottom) down into place. You may have to adjust it a little after you get the entire earpad installed to get it lined up straight up and down to fit your ear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much Better than the originals I installed a set of Pearstone velour earpads on my Sony MDR V6 headphones and am completely satisfied with the results. They are significantly more comfortable then the original Sony plastic pads, and do at least as well at sealing out ambient noise. They take a little patience to install since the internal band is pretty tight, but once on, they stay-put. The velour looks like it will hold up better than the very thin imitation leather that the Sony's were originally equipped with (which only lasted a few years before developing cracks and flaking off). All in all, a very inexpensive way to prolong the life of some old phones.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adds Bass, Takes Time To Install These aren't easy to install, but after a few minutes or so it comes together. My only real gripe about these is that my Sony headphones have always had a great neutral sound field perfect for mixing. Very flat. These replacement pads are the more deluxe ones. They don't have that shiny material on them that seems to flake off over time. However, after I put them on and took a listen, the material they're made of over the ears adds much more bass (a much deeper sound) than the original ones. I'm hoping I'll get used to the sound. If not, I may look into other replacement pads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Choice for the SONY MDR-V6 The Pearstone Deluxe Earpads are the perfect replacement pad for my MDR-V6 headphones. They actually fit me better than the original pads. I've noticed that I get better isolation, I have more space around my ears, and the fabric that covers the drivers doesn't come in contact with my ears. The velour fabric is much more comfortable than the original pleather pads. All this allows me to wear my V6's for longer listening sessions. Finally, with such a great yourself a favor and get two sets so you have a spare. What a great value!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pain to install but worth the effort My headphones were purchased in 1989 or 1990 ish, the ear pads had long since flaked away and were an bad shape. These have always been top of the line headphones with a flat sound signature. The Pearstone appear to add a very slight hint of boost to the bass level of the sound signature. Nothing that anyone other than a serious audiophile would complain about. The rest of the spectrum appears unaffected. Comfort is first rate, and I suspect that these will last for some time. If you love your Sony MDR-V6 and want the comfort to return, seriously consider these puppies you won't regret it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than Anticipated I was very surprised to see how comfortable these earpads were. My first concern was that they were going to be too hot so I left one OEM earpad on and one of the Deluxe Velour. Much to my surprise they velour pad was cool and dry while the OEM side was hot and sweaty. I've picked up another set for my other recording headset. I record a radio show with these and typically wear them for 2.5 hours while I write show notes and listen to music, all the way to recording the show and post-production where I listen to music again. I noticed that the ear holes are slightly smaller than OEM pads, but fit my ears well. Large-eared individuals may want to be cautious. These are worth it.
