Auray EP-MDR7506 Reviews
Hooray!
I have my MDR-V6 headphones back in all their glory and I installed these in record time. Piece of cake. I found you have to basically turn them inside out by pulling the stretchy part forward around and over the pad part. Then hold the whole item over the mounting flange and pull the stretchy part back around and over to where it belongs, retaining the pads on the earpiece. Don't press down on the driver overly hard while doing that. After you get the stretchy part in position to keep the the pad on it may be on too far, (covering the groove where it's supposed to go). Just gradually start pulling it back to expose the groove, forcing it in the groove as you work it around the circumference of the earpiece. I pulled back on it and worked it into the groove using my fingernail, being careful not to cut the material with my nail. Voila, completely installed in less than 10 minutes for the pair. Oh, and someone mentioned they seem smaller than OEM. I don't think so. They fit just fine, even while I am wearing my hearing aids.
Great replacement
I don't think they are of the same quality as the originals. The original pads seems to be a bit more dense in terms of cushion. It's not a huge difference. For less than half the price of the originals, these replacements will be fine. Unless you are comparing the two versions side by side, you probably wouldn't notice the difference. It is a nice snug fit on the earphones and comfortable fit when wearing. Overall I'm pleased with this purchase. Time will tell how they last with wear. The original pads started to flake off and created an awful mess. I read in another review that these replacements will not do that. In terms of feel, they are a bit substandard. In terms of replacement compatibility and comfort, perfect. In terms of longevity, tbd. Great value!
Insanely frustrating and not as soft
I used to be a research assistant for a psychologist at a university, and we would have to come up with ways to elicit certain emotions in research subjects, like showing them Homeward Bound to make them sad, etc. And if I had to suggest a really effective way to make someone frustrated, I would have them put these replacement earpads on a pair of Sony headphones. It's crazy frustrating. But more importantly, they just aren't as soft. Maybe that's the difference between an old pair and a new pair, but I was bummed when I finally got the new pads on, and they just weren't very soft. They just feel like whatever regular headphones and not the super soft ones I had been using.
Works well
These pads fit perfectly on my Sony MDR-7506 headphones
Cheap but low-quality
I bought these to replace stock MDR-7506 earpads that had started disintegrating after five years or so. Installing the Auray pads was easy and they were comfortable enough and sounded fine, but after about a year of infrequent use (maybe a few hours per month), the outer material was already cracking and flaking off. I've just replaced them with Auray's sheepskin version (AUEPSMDR7506), which cost three times as much but will hopefully last at least three times as long.
You will eventually need these for the Sony MDR-7506.
These will make your Sony MDR-7506 look like new. B&H frequently offers deals I can't refuse.
SONY MF7506 HEADPHONES
These are perfect for rehabbing Sony md 7506 headphones. They are somewhat tricky to install, but once done they make the phones just like new, at a fraction of the new price.
Better than the original Sony earpads
My Sony MDR-7506 headphones have held up really well over thousands of hours of use but the original earpads finally became unusable. The Auray replacement pads fit over (vs on) the ear, resulting in more comfort for long periods of use plus they keep outside sound out better. A small price to pay to keep a pair of premium headphones operational.
