E-77 II 77mm Lens Cap is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 259.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fix for clattering caps An inexpensive way to cure an irksome problem for lenses with hoods installed: with the outer clip design, I was constantly touching the front surface of a filter by accident, or sliding the plastic edge of the cap across it. Since buying this one, to see if it was as useful as it seemed it would be, I've bought replacements for other lenses -- I'm especially eager to have the 67mm version for my 100 2.8L Macro, whose hood is tight and deep, meaning I have to leave the lens cap off or remove the hood to get it off. I'm completely satisfied with this device. I have already shown the 77mm version to a friend who uses Canon lenses, and recommended it to him.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Lens Cap is a Lens Cap A lens cap is a lens cap, you say. Well there is a lot of truth in that. All lens caps protect the lens and they are definitely essential. Who wants a lens that is all dirty and scratched up. What makes this cap a little special, other than that it says Canon, is that it is easy to put on and remove. I can't tell you how many times I've fumbled with a lens cap only to have it fall on the floor or in the dirt because my fingers weren't nimble enough to make it secure to the lens perfectly. The E-77 II lens cap is convenient. Pinch it in the middle or pinch it on the outsides like the old cap. Works like a dream. It makes putting the lens cap on so much easier. I don't remember if they are a little more expensive than the old flat lens caps I have used in the past but a dollar or two more is well worth it. Buy these, you won't be unhappy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works As Promised I was tired of fumbling to find the squeeze points on conventional lens caps, especially after sunset, with a lens hood in place, or when wearing gloves. These center-squeeze caps ended that annoyance. They are dead simple to remove under all those conditions, and with no danger of thumb printing the lens. Their thickness ensures an easy grip. I'd give them five stars except that replacing the cap requires fractionally more attention. You need to listen for and feel the telltale click when the cap is fully seated. Otherwise, there's a slight chance of partial lock-in, and the cap can fall off. After a few tries, this becomes second nature, and remains a vast improvement over the edge-squeeze version.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It works... but slows me down. I have been a Canon shooter since 1996, and I have owned a wide range of lenses from 52mm to 77, and i liked all of the old lens caps. Unfortunately, I had to replace a 58mm & a 77mm.. with these new ones... I liked the old ones much better because they were easy to mount and easier to remove. Now, I have to mess with it longer... I use lens hoods on all my lenses BTW... which hinders the ease of applying and removing lens caps. I wish I could still order the old styled ones.. but unfortunately, Canon "fixed" them.. :-( Oh well...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than stock one I bought it for my EF 24-70L (first edition). Fits perfectly and remains in place even better than the one which was on that lens originally. Awesome thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well, It's a very nice lens cap. Err... It's a lens cap. While my Canon lens came with a 77mm cap, it was not the center-squeeze. Does that matter? Well I'm trying to use the lens hood more than I have in the past and this cap is much easier to take off and put on with the hood installed. Once in my pocket, or installed on the lens, it doesn't do anything any other cap does. Yea I really like it... and at $ for two of them, I need to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HUGE Improvement This does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is a HUGE improvement over the lens caps that came with my canon lenses. The center pinch feels solid and keeps unwanted junk off my lens. I can only hope that Canon starts making their center pinch lens caps mandatory on all purchases!!! It works great with long lens caps. It keeps my finger prints off the glass when removing it....(can't say the same with the original lens cap accessory). Had to get the one that said Canon, though...only makes sense!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's about time This is an item that should have been made 50 years ago. It is really a tremendous help if you want to place or remove the lens cap while the lens hood is in place. I tried the third party caps first because of the vast price reduction over the Canon brand, but the center walls of the pinch mechanism are to straight and your fingers tend to slip off. The Canon cap is much easier to hang on to. This is an excellent product but far to expensive and much too late in coming . Nikon has been making them for years.
