Glasses Model Hoodeye Eyecup for Select Sony Alpha Camera Models is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with a77 Since I am an eyeglass wearer, I have been wanting an eyecup for my Alpha-series cameras for some time This is the first Hoodman eyecup that is available (that I am aware of) for Sony Alpha. It is very well made and is completely compatible with my A77. It fits snugly on the eye mount and has the appropriate cutaway for the EyeStart feature. The only issue for some, is that it interferes with unfolding the articulated Rear LCD. The Hoodman is round so that it can be rotated 360 degrees. This makes it extend a bit over the LCD on the A77. You can lift the eyepiece up slightly to allow the screen to pass then push it back into place. Glad to finally have a quality eyecup for my Sony cameras!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good concept bad design ... BUT THERE'S A SOLUTION After waiting several weeks for this to arrive due to backorder status I received this item in the mail. The A7sii has an amazing EVF and a hood is the perfect solution for using it for video, especially outdoors. I have glasses so ordered the glasses model. Unfortunately the eye hole is round and doesn't allow me to see the entire frame at once, requiring me to press my glasses in and seek out the corners. My glasses aren't unusually large so I'm assuming this will be the case with many people who wear glasses and want to use this product. Knowing there aren't other products available as an alternative I've gone ahead and filed out the rounded shape of the hole to make it a proper rectangle. This has solved the problem but should've been part of the design in the first place. This is the shape of the original viewfinder eye cup on the camera and should be the case with this adapter. So unless you're okay doing a little filing I'd hold off until they fix this issue or another product comes to market that doesn't obstruct the corners of the frame view.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from has to be modified It's useful but I needed to physically cut and file it in order for it to be useful therefore I am giving it two stars. Basically one extra star because it is the only product I could find. It's obvious that no one took the time to give it any useful design thoughts to make it even an average product, just copied every other design since film camera where there wasn't an lcd screen on the back. Doesn't truly do a great job blocking light for glasses wearers. bottom line typical product without an once of intelligent design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Close - But No Cigar I had high hopes for the Hoodman Glasses Model Eyecup for my Sony A7m2, as I've always had issues with light coming in from the side and causing reflections on my glasses. And, while the Hoodman Eyecup did a good job of blocking light from the side, it doesn't block it completely, and it's the light coming in from the side-rear that causes the reflections on the rear surface of my glasses, which is VERY distracting. My glasses are not overly large, and yes, I did triple check to make sure I ordered (and received) the large glasses model. So, it didn't work for me, but that's not to say it won't work for somebody else. It's extremely well made, and fit perfectly on my A7m2. Not loose, but not to tight either. I found it worth the effort to try, and if you're interested, I'd recommend that you give it a try as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product...does the job. Love this product. It fits perfectly on the camera and does a good job keeping the light away from the viewfinder. One potential issue (not really a problem but something to be aware of) is how much it protrudes out the back of the camera and interferes some with the rear live view screen...especially if your screen hinges out as the Sony A7 II does. Easy removal and re-install when you store your camera in a padded backpack compartment. Reasonable price to boot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As expected Works as expected, covers the eye well even with glasses. Has a slot that allows the Sony a7's automatic viewfinder/monitor switch to work, which is a must. The plastic quality could have been a bit better though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not quite as expected The hoodeye is easy to fit and remove and without wearing glasses the cup reduces ambient light to very low levels as intended. However, the cup simply isn't large enough to fit comfortably over my glasses. The glasses are rimless with little depth to them but they are reasonably wide and that's where the problem lies. So, I have to remove the glasses in bright light, which obviates the main reason for buying the eyecup. The rubber material is not as soft as I had hoped and feels a little uncomfortable. All told, a good idea but the implementation doesn't work well for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thailand Run & Gun Tested I had a run and gun shoot in Thailand where I had to take minimal gear. This eye piece worked great to block light spillage into the evf. My focus and exposure was bang on, every time. I thought it would fall off as it was jammed into my gear bag quite often in a hurry, but it stayed on perfectly throughout the trip.
