Hoodman HEYENSG reviews

Glasses Model Hoodeye Eyecup for Nikon Square Eyepiece Models is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 86.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very dificult to remove I bought the eyecup because I uses glasses while taking pictures. I use a Nikon D7000. I installed the eyecup with no difficulty. Removing it was a totally different story. The padded eyepiece on the camera does not have a clip on the bottom of the holder. The Hoodman Glasses model has a bar to keeps the device on. The bar prevents the device from moving upward for removal. It required a great deal of effort to get the device off the camera. On the D7000 I would recommend filing the lower bar off so removal can be done easily, the same as the camera's eyepiece. If the lower bar is removed I would recommend the Hoodman Glasses model Hoodeye eyecup for the D7000.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not The Best Thing To Use I have never have written a bad review before, but there is always a first time for everything.. I bought this Hoodman Eye cup in hopes it would help me when shooting outside.. While the concept is a good idea, this eyecup was a horrible thing to use for my Nikon D7100. It blocks alot of the LCD screen as well as having a bad rubber smell to it.. I tryed using it for a week but could not stand it.. Then trying to take it off was very hard too. Bottom line is I would not buy this product again. I ended up ordering a 3 piece Nikon Round Rubber Eye piece set. Much better..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING - Won't fit D300 or D5100 A product I have been looking for. It says it fits Nikon cams with a square eyepiece. That's a pretty vague description but I bought it hoping it would fit one of my two cameras. It seemed to fit fine on my D5100, but when I got the cam in the field I discovered that I could not open the LCD. The tilting LCD is a key feature of the camera. When I tried removing the eyepiece I found it was secured by a plastic ridge that needed to be pried up with my pocket knife. It was much too cumbersome to do each time I needed the LCD. I tried this on my D300 and it wouldn't fit at all. It would have been a great product if it worked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it is supposed to do, but---. I got this for use on a D300S. It slipped on easily, does not block the live panel, and keeps stray light off the eyepiece--which is what it is supposed to do. On the other hand, my glasses bang it to it, so Ihave to sort of press my head forward and push it aside to get within proper focusing distance. I discovered you can bend it forward to partially alleviate this problem, but then you lose half the light shielding effect. What I may do is take a pair of shears and customize it to my glasses. Of course, I could always adjust the diopter wheel so I could use the eyepiece without glasses, but now what do I do with my glasses? Use a chain, I suppose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improve Viewing Through DSLR Viewfinder I bought two of Hoodeye Eyecups to add on my Nikon D600 and D7100 DSLRs. This is very useful for photographers who wear eye glasses. It has improved a lot for me viewing and framing through the viewfinder that minimizes the light getting into my eyes. So now I can see camera setting and photo objects much clear and longer in the tiny viewfinder. And my eyes won't get blurring after just a few shots as I had before. The down sides are two: 1) It blocks 20% top portion of LCD Display on D600 and D7100. 2) It is very hard to be removed once you put it on viewfinder. So you can't switch back and forth easily with the original eyecup when you shoot indoor or at night.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a useful product This product is totally unsatisfactory. It puts your eye very far from the viewfinder and it vignettes the corners so that you cannot see the whole scene. It is also quite uncomfortable presssing against your glasses, as it is too stiff to give sufficiently when you do so.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok but I would not purchase another one The eyecup fits my glasses well but I do not see any better and it is too large for me to store my camera back into my photoequipment back pack. I have removed it and placed it on the shelf and will not use it. My wife wears glasses and tried the eyecup and found it did not work for her either. The product is well made but just does not fit my work style. If I had not lost the packaging I would have returned it. It probably works well for many folks and as such cannot say that I would not recommend it, I can say try it and if it works great if not return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Idea Work's very well, a must have if you wear glasses. a bit tough to put on it fits very tight must keep trying to get it on. you need to tilt it up then slide it down like the directions say. once on keep the directions in your bag or with your camera,s other books. in case you get anouther camera and want to switch it over. leave it on all the time. works like a charm. covers the whole of the glasses you can now realy lean into the viewfinder and shoot comfortably' cup will turn around for left eye shooting, well made will not slip off and get lost. as much as cameras cost these days it is a shame they don't already come with one of these on them. I have always used an eye cup it is like a must have along with a good strap, they are just the tools that you must have to make shooting comfortable. You install them and forget them, always there always helping you get on with your work, and enjoyment, of the craft. Works great on my Nikon D 7000. it hides the back dysplay a bit, not that big of a problem, after all it is for eye glasses viewing. all buttons are acessable.
